Woodstock was a festival held in 1969, which had some musicians such as Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin and The Who, come together to protest the Vietnam War and any other wars. Those musicians and many others supported the fight to end the Vietnam War and helped popularize a new “hippie” life style. The festival produced further controversy between people, and also made negative remarks towards the United Sates’ decision, which was fighting in Vietnam. Although many people were expecting Woodstock to end in violence and many deaths, the festival actually promoted peace and only two deaths were recorded. Many concert-goers camped out and peacefully protested to love not fight, and even musicians preformed songs at Woodstock that sent the message to not start or continue war but end it. Woodstock had many effects on the generations in America by inspiring people to protest peacefully, popularizing the ‘Hippie” movement and changing the music industry in America for years to come.
Woodstock supported protest in the 1960’s by encouraging the questioning of politics and government rule. Cultural trends like growing out hair, wearing loose clothes, and showing off Bohemian style further shows the peaceful protest not only against politics, but society. Woodstock also encouraged young people to speak about their opinions in politics and actually have a voice. The festival did not only support protest against Vietnam, but it was a warning against the American involvement in other irrelevant and faraway lands. The United Sates going into Vietnam was opposed and fought by many Americans but, unfortunley that did not stop the war and did not alter the government’s decision.

...d it made music more of a reality than a dream. From Woodstock to now, many performers have been inspired by the music that was played and it spoke in ways others could not. Even though some performers have passed away their legacy still lives on through their music.
In conclusion, Woodstock has had many effects on generations in America and has inspired future artists and festivals to create meaning music as well. Woodstock did not start the hippie generation but popularized it, and made it more of an evolution than a phase. Woodstock also promoted young people to speak their voice and protest their opinions about the Vietnam War and any other crisis. Even though Woodstock was just a music festival it gave people the chance to rebel and question big issues affecting the nation and world and has been a revolutionizing event in music and American history.
