As Space Exploration advanced so did the diversity of those who entered into it. Only a mere two years after the first man entered into space the first women did, Valentina Tereshkova. After her experience in space, many more women made their mark through the Space program. Each of these talented women strived for excellence in the field of Space Exploration and has provided great role models for people throughout the world. They have made an impact not only in equality among all genders but also in the knowledge we know today about space. These women, all diverse, shared one thing in common, the title of Astronaut.
The Space program has been enriched with the help of many profound women working on it and making their mark on history. A grand total of fifty-five females have had the opportunity to enter into space. Of the fifty-five women, six of them have been serving and working under the Russian/ Soviet Union space program. A total of one woman has participated in China's space effort by becoming an astronaut. In China the word for Astronauts is Taikonaut. The United States, a leader in the worlds space efforts, has had forty-eight women astronauts all serving NASA in their expeditions. Of those forty-eight women who served the American Space program, only forty-three of them were actually American. The other five were Chinese, Indian, and Iranian. Lastly, eighteen women are scheduled to fly on space missions yet to be.Space has been entered by many women from all over the globe and hopefully this pattern will continue in later years.

Eileen Collins, Valentina Tereshkova, Mae Jemison, Sally Ride, Svetlana Savitskaya, and many other women who got the opportunity to enter into space all made their impact on modern History and Science. These names will be remembered throughout the decades because of the amazing strides they made in their Space Programs and for their unique stories on how they got the opportunity to go to space. No matter what program these women were working for there is no doubt that they have all made quite a difference the world. All these women risked their lives in the pursuit of obtaining knowledge, credibility, and improvement for their Space Programs. Their loyalty and dedication for what they did will forever influence generations to come. Never forget what these women did because maybe one day you can make an impact like they did.
