Lying: Is it ever okay?
One question that most of us ask ourselves or other is, “Is it ever okay to lie?”, and some people think about it. There are many different lies and many types, but most of them fall into three general categories. The three groups are, “Lies to protect others” ; “Lies in the interest of the liar” ; and “Lies to cause harm”. A particular number of people consider some of the categories bad or good, most people say that most categories are bad. It is not okay to lie even on certain occasions where it is the lying a possible option.

In the article “It’s the truth: Americans Conflicted About Lying”, it talks about situations that people have lied in and the purpose of the lie. In the article it states, “But, says the 25-year-old mother from Quincy, III., ‘We couldn’t have the TV on all day.’ Deep in her heart, she knew that telling him the truth would have been better, though more time-consuming, as discipline often is. ‘It’s the easy trap of a lie,’she says ruefully. ‘It’s easier than telling the truth.’ “ In this statement, a mother tells that to is easier to lie than tell the truth. The mother had the idea in her mind that telling the truth would be unproductive and a waste of time. This is an important piece of information such as, this article tells us how lies could be a form of manipulation and an example of a trying to get out the easy way. Trying to get out the easy way is a longer version of saying lazy or procrastinating and procrastinating is bad since at one point or another, it is required to tell the truth or do the action.
