A person once said “the truth does not cost a person anything, but a lie costs a person everything”. The aim of the study is to take an in depth look at how the kinds of lies and sex differences in lying demonstrated in the scientific article are related with Pamela Meyer's tedtalk.

Kinds of lies

Self centered and other oriented lies are two different types of lies. Self centered are lies people use in order to lie about themselves , while other oriented are lies people use to lie about other people. Meyers stated in the ted talk lies happen for the sake social dignity in which participants were willing into deception. For, instance there was a man named henry oberlander said ´´everyone is willing to give someone something for whatever it is they are hungry for´´, To simplify he means that everyone wants to improve every aspect of their life. This could be a reason why there are sex differences in lying. The article showed that women have a way of interacting with one another, which would differ from the way they interact with men , this was due the period of childhood in which men and women were raised in . Women learned to acknowledge each other's points and expressed agreement with each other from án early age , and it continues through adulthood.

Further , it was also due to a small truth that would cover a big lie. An instance, is that a woman could say that a muffin looks pretty. These lies women tell could be risky ´, but they are used in order to not hurt the person who is receiving the lie. This was also noticed in Meyer's ted talk when she mentioned when there were two patterns of deceptions. The first one was an interview that was conducted with Bill clinton . In the ted talk ,Meyers described about a hot spot in order to spot a liar, it was a deception attitude where two people were having a conversation. A person who is honest would be cooperative , Ie words an honest person would be willing to be helpful in order to get to the truth. For example , there was an interview with president candidate John Edwards who shooked his head yes, while saying no. Meyers also states in the ted talk that the difference between a lying expression and expression that tells the truth is that. The lying face expression is an expression of contempt and also easy to learn, the expression of truth on the other hand is an asymmetrical expression and in expression of contempt .For instance, it could be two people playing in the field but when anger comes into play, the lie will be dismissed.
