Creepy, crawly and gross bugs should not be added to food. There are many reasons why bugs should not be added to food starting with the fact that there are many unknown health risks that could put you in danger. Another reason is because they are so expensive that you could buy a steak for the same price, and to get the same amount of protein you would need to eat a lot. While some people think their nutritious they may be more dangerous than we think. Bugs belong beneath us in the ground and not in our food. I prefer food that doesn’t look back at me.

According to the article titled “Would you eat this” it says “Aside from the ick factor, there are other challenges to popularizing insect-eating in the U.S. For one, there isn’t much of a system to support farming bugs. Not too many people know how to do it and there aren’t many places to buy the necessary equipment.” Since not a lot of people know how to do it the prices will get higher. Where as a lot of people know how to farm cows and chickens. So the prices will be lower. According to the article titled “Would You Eat This” it says “As a result they are expensive cricket chips, or “chirps” cost $15 for 3 5-ounce bags. That’s four times more expensive than the comparable amount of beef.” Why make the switch to bugs when you would be paying 4 times is more then you would for beef? People would buy bugs to get another source of protein. However bugs lack the amount of protein we need. The article titled “Eating Insects Isn’t as Eco-Friendly as People Say” states “but do crickets really have the potential to be the new beef? Not yet, according to the new study published in the journal PLOS ONE. When researchers raised crickets on several different diets and tried to see how much protein they can squeeze out of them they got disappointing results: just not a whole lot of protein” why pay the price of $15 just to get little amount of protein? There are many alternative to cows to get protein such as chicken and fish why are we choosing to eat the animal with the least amount of protein? Later the article states “in the experiment, researchers raise crickets on one of five different diets They replicated each diet three times and harvested the crickets after two weeks… Diet made a huge difference, the study authors found.
