Teenagers spend a lot of time looking forward to a specific birthday: the famous sweet 16th birthday. Parents and friends will oftentimes throw big surprise parties for someone’s 16th birthday. When a teenager turns 16, a lot of doors open up for him or her. For example, teenagers look forward to driving and hopefully owning their own cars, and with that comes getting a license. Getting a driver's license in high school is important because it comes with a sense of independence, responsibility, and freedom to go anywhere. First, getting a license is important for teens because it gives them a sense of independence. To begin, when teenagers have their license, they can drive places on their own! To begin, teens will potentially have the ability to drive themselves to and from school by themselves. When a teenager gets his/her license, a lot of doors open up for him/her. A licensed teenager will be able to drive to school, get a choice in what time they'll be somewhere, apply for jobs, and have more freedom. In addition, an exciting opportunity that comes along with a driver's license is getting to spend more time with friends. If and when teenagers have had their driver's license for six months, they are then able to drive around a few friends. Also, teenagers will be able to go shopping, out on dates, and not have to worry about other people’s schedules. If teenagers take their time in the instructional driving course, do well on their tests, and become responsible drivers, they will have great freedom that comes from having a driver’s license.
