Heroes do have supernatural exemplary traits and characteristics. In the movie, Beowulf undeniably possesses super strength and extra-ordinary bravery as well. The themes "Good vs Evil", "Christianity vs Paganism", "Fate", "Fame", "Friendship", "Loyalty and Honor", "Bravery", "Generosity", "Man's price", "Thane's duty to his Lord" and "Lord's duty to his thanes" were obviously observed in the movie. Anyway, I saw another thing which I thought was given emphasis in the story. This realization goes this way: Beowulf, as a hero is still a human being. In connection, as a human nature, he too (like any other human being) has his own strengths and weaknesses. He did commit a mistake by having an intercourse with Grendel's mom. This was like a compensation to what he has done in the past. Since he has nothing to do to bring back time, he needs to do what is right. He's already old and he cannot deny the fact that he may be not fit enough to go in a fight. But he still did even if it may cause him his death. As for me, there is a feeling of guilt inside Beowulf's heart which pokes his conscience to go in a fight against the dragon which happened to be his son. As the king, he needs to protect his people. And he successfully did it. He killed his son. He put an end to the fruit of his mistake. He proved that it was never too late for him to correct the mistakes he has done. This movie may serve as an inspiration to some old folks out there that has something to fix from their past. Hey! Even Beowulf, the hero and king of Dane doesn't see his age as an excuse to do what he needs to do. Thus, young ones still have the chance to make things up to the persons whom they have sinned to.
