Back to the start Since 21st century, people prefer to eat different kinds of meats and it causes farms to product large amount of meats. In the article "What is wrong with Factory Farming? " written by Anomaly, J(2014) , he states the growth of factory farming around the world. So, what is factory farm and what are its advantages and disadvantages? Through these questions, I browsed an advertisement, which is called "Back to the start" and it is about factory farming and food. I was attracted by this short and powerful advertisement. This advertisement talks about natural farm and natural food produced by Chipotle, a Mexican Grill restaurant. They are running and walking on the grass freely and happily and look very healthy. With time going by, the farmer begins to build sheds and lock animals in them. What's more, he uses drugs to feed these animals instead of providing them grass. More and more modern techniques are used to raise these animals and they are at last packed in trucks and sent to city. I can also see polluted water and polluted air. This kind of factory farming results in the quantity of the animals on the farm increasing quickly and they looks fatter. In this way, the farm can have more profit and it becomes industrialized based on the increasing of animals. However, at the end of the advertisement, the farmer feels upset and decides to go back to the old way of having a natural farm. He decides to stop using technology to over control his animals. In the article "What is wrong with Factory Farming? ", Anomaly's research is mainly focused on the clash between animal’s rights activists and the business. (2014). This research enhances readers' knowledge, which is about factory farm. Animals are suffering pain, do not have freedom in factory farm. Chipotle shows the audience that the increased amount of pigs are put in the warehouse before being sent to a machine that produces pork. There are two more machines in the warehouse. One of the machines is used to store the drugs that makes pigs grow more quickly and makes the pork look fresh and tasty, the other one is used to let out wastewater into the river. The fact is that on today's factory farms, animals are put into sheds without windows and are suffered in wire cages. They are only given such a little space that they can't even turn around or lie down comfortably. Most of them can't reach the sunshine and can't have fresh air. Additionally, these animals can't eat fresh grass any more. What they eat are man-made feed and drugs to make them grow faster until they are big and fat enough to be sent to the slaughterhouse.
