Biomedical Engineer According to Queen Elizabeth II, “At its heart, engineering is about using science to find creative, practical solutions. It is a noble profession.” Engineers use math and science to solve the world’s problems. They also use their knowledge to innovate new types of ideas that people did not know they needed to make their lives better. Different types of engineers use their skills to solve different, select types of problems. For example, biomedical engineers use their knowledge in math, biology, and the medical field to create new inventions that help problems in those fields. Engineers are important to society because they solve important problems in the world with math and science and their technology is used to save lives and make them easier. Biomedical engineers spend many hours in their workplace, performing a lot of different tasks to help the medical field. One task that biomedical engineers do is designing and creating equipment to help doctors such as artificial organs (“Biomedical Engineer”). Biomedical engineers also help to install, maintain, and evaluate biomedical equipment and work with scientists and doctors to research, publish papers, and present their findings (“Biomedical Engineers”).

Biomedical engineers make somewhere between 45,000 dollars and 130,000 dollars annually. This translates to about 25 dollars to 46 dollars an hour. Biomedical engineering is a field growing at a really fast rate. In the next 10 years the job is expected to grow by 23% or more, which is 16% more than the average rate (“Biomedical Engineers”). The amount of jobs in the biomedical engineering field will expand from 1,040 in 2014 to about 1,290 in 2024 (“Biomedical Engineer”).
