Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s delivery of his "I Have a Dream" speech on August 28, 1963 ended up becoming one of the most inspiring speeches of all time and served as a catalyst for the Civil Rights

On August 28th 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous “I Have a Dream…” speech in from of the Lincoln Memorial. His speech addresses civil rights and the struggles of racial diversity and equality. His speech highlights his main points of his speech while using rhetorical devices that the common American people of the United States could understand. He uses historical facts and events to help get to his point. He also uses beautiful language to show his points, making his speech memorable.

It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.” Dr. King also used some logo appeals in his analogies. When he says, “America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked ‘insufficient funds.’” That analogy is used logic as a form of reasoning.
King uses many examples of rhetorical devices in his speech like repetition, allusion, similies, and many more. Dr . King uses repetition many times during the speech to get his message across like when he says “I have a dream” and “We can never be satisfied”. He used this example of allusion, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal” to tell people the truth and get them to realize things they probably didn’t realize on their own. And lastly, he uses smilies like, “We are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until "justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream." This similie showed people not to give up and to keep fighting for what you believe in.
