Doing research on what is needed to become successful in the field of business has benefited me tremendously. Meeting with a Virginia Tech Alum was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The chance to meet with a Virginia Tech Alum to help model the plans I will make to become successful was an opportunity that I’m very thankful for and will never forget. Thanks to the insights of my research and guidance received from the alumni I met with, I intend to approach my next five years in the Pamplin College of Business in a much more organized and determined manner. Alex’s story about how he spent five straight semesters taking over twenty-four credits hours was very inspirational. The story inspired me to challenge myself even harder in my studies. Now I plan use my time management skills to focus harder on my studies and adapt to any situation or job opportunity that may come up. I plan to enroll in a 152-Hour Program that will allow me to graduate with a master’s degree in five years. With that degree, I hope to graduate with a double major in accounting and finance, with a minor in international business. If I can find a way to take summer classes or winter classes, or even more credit hours per semester, I want to add another major in either Spanish or Multimedia Applications. To assist with my troubles in communicating during interviews and people in general, I plan on taking a public speaking course. Seeing Alex’s success helped me realize, hard work will pay off. The work I put in now, regardless of what other believe or expect of me, will affect how successful I can become. Thanks to the insights of my research and guidance received from the alum I met with, I plan to use my time management skills to challenge myself with more studies, adapt to any situation that may arise, and enhance my communication skills throughout my remaining years to study here at Virginia
