I AM A UNITED STATES SAILOR.
What is a sailor? A sailor is a person whose job it is to work as a crew member of a naval or commercial ship usually referring to enlisted personnel. The word was originated from when ships were powered by wind and sail. There is a difference between a sailor and a United States sailor. As the United States Navy is like no other Navy. The United States naval force is the most powerful naval force on the planet demanding more from each individual sailor to keep such a powerful force running smoothly. Some things these sailors are entrusted with are very dangerous and have consequences such as death, loss of tactical advantage or destruction of millions of dollars in equipment if not done correctly or without complacency. …show more content…

I will represent and uphold this fighting spirit by being ready and willing to enter battle and fight till death to protect the innocent men, women and children of the United States. With God’s blessing I may make it home safely to my family when my job is done. I will fight hard and long until the battle is won to honor those who have done this before me and those that will do the same after I am gone. The fighting spirit of the Navy is inside each and every Sailor a feeling of courage and strength. For me this spirit has come multiple times. The first time was marching to Battle Stations in Basic Training. The night was dark and foggy.an entire division of men and I had created comradery over a month marching and screaming cadence calls at the top of our lungs knowing were about to go into probably the hardest thing we have ever experienced. Instead of being scared and worried of what will happen next we were excited, prepared, fire in our eyes and looking for blood. This is the fighting spirit that stands the hairs on the back of your neck strait up, makes you flex your jaw muscles and clinch your fists. This is the fighting spirit that lives in each and every Sailor and is what we live
