Diabetes is a chronic disease caused by high blood sugar. Blood sugars become high either because the body doesn’t respond to insulin produced by the pancreas or the body doesn’t produce adequate amounts of insulin. There are currently 25.8 million children and adults in the U.S living with diabetes. That means 8.3 percent of the earth’s population are living with this disease. If not treated diabetes has been known to cause death.
There are two types of diabetes. The first type is type one. In a type one diabetic the body doesn’t produce enough insulin to counteract sugar the body produces. It usually is only diagnosed in children and young adults. These individuals have to watch their diet closely. They also will have to take daily
