Our world is forever changing and alongside it are the people. We’re a generation that doesn’t need to just do work, but to have the ability to question things and solve problems. This problem solver mindset is shown in many inventors from many points in time. This inquiry aims to show how these characteristics made the world what it is and what we need to acquire.

Innovation is the key to solving problems that seemed impossible. By using things that have been developed before and improving upon them, many things have come to life. In Thomas Newcomen’s case, the steam engine had been around for a little while, but not to a quality that the industry demanded. Thomas Savery had previously made a steam engine used to pump water out from mines …show more content…

Prior to 1956, the medical and veterinarian industry were face with a large problem when it came to needles. He decided that he needed to persevere and come up with a solution to the problem that many, not only in New Zealand had faced, but around the world. He invented the disposable plastic syringe which, after being used, could be thrown away. This was a major step for the medical community and has greatly improved the way we treat diseases today.

Tesla was someone who persevered all of the time. When Thomas Edison proposed his DC system being used for generic power supply, Tesla saw a problem. With the use of DC for power transmission throughout the U.S, a power station would have to produce electricity every 1.6 kilometers. Through Tesla’s design, he used a method called stepping up and stepping down. This allowed for a high voltage and low current across the main power lines and be converted to a lower voltage and higher current at a house which means that it can be transferred over long distances rather than the 1.6 kilometers with DC. For an age that had only just heard of household electricity, this was very ambitious of Tesla.

Ambition is what powers inventors to do what they do best: invent. Tesla was very ambitious with his inventions and so much so that people thought he was a mad
