The Knights Templar, Skull And Bones And The Black Dragon Society Essay

The common thread throughout world history that connects time periods and countries is the pursuit of power.The types power of range from religious,economic, to political. Secret societies have played a role in the pursuit and conquest of power over time. To varying degrees, three secret societies, The Knights Templar, Skull and Bones and the Black Dragon Society have affected historical events within their time periods and continents because their members have risen to positions of power within their given countries or continents.

Before the Knights Templar in Europe came into being, the Muslims had taken the most sacred grounds for Christendom into their possession in the 7th century. This was the Holy Land , where Jesus had been crucified and rose from the dead.

The First Crusade began as a pilgrimage but quickly turned to a military conquest by the Roman Catholic Church to gain back control of the sacred Christian sites in the Holy Land. After Muslim control for more than four centuries, on July 15th, 1099, a multinational army of more than 13,000 soldiers succeeded in regaining the Holy Land.

However, the christian warriors disgraced themselves because of the many innocent slaughterings of residents of the Holy Land. The christian army that occupied this area soon found themselves under attack constantly by locals. Distressed by all the attacks, a group of nine knights united and proposed to the leader of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, Baldwin II, that they would form a band of soldiers who would dedicate themselves to protecting the kingdom and all the European visitors. These were the Knights Templar that would begin to protect and serve in 1118.

One thing that does seem clear is that the world’s elite leaders, at different points in history used members of secret societies to advance their political, religious and economic pursuits of power. From Presidents in the United States, to Popes in Rome, to emperors of Japan, all employed society members to advance their agendas.

It is also evident, that members of Knights Templar, Skull and Bones, and The Black Dragon affected the course of history to varying degrees. Whether it is the protection of the Holy Land in the Middle Ages, or the rise of the most powerful nation the world has ever known, or the expansion of the Japanese Empire leading up to World War II, secret societies have been key players in the advancement of power of the county or organization that it’s leaders control.
