In the years from 1860 through 1890, the prospect of a better life attracted nearly ten million immigrants who settled in cities around the United States. The growing number of industries produced demands for thousands of new workers and immigrants were seeking more economic opportunities. Most immigrants settled near each other’s own nationality and/or original village when in America.
The United States is a country known for its variation of nationalities and ethnic races. After extensive research, and questioning I discovered that my ancestors originated from Norway and Switzerland. My family migrated to the United States in the late 1800’s from Norway due to social, economic, and religion reforms as well as, a surplus in the population. Learning of my ancestor’s migration to America has very much influenced my views on the existing immigration problems that the U.S. currently faces.
There is no denying that immigration will always be a factor in the development of the United States. Whether it is due to religious beliefs, economic problems or even war in their native country, emigrants will always come to America with hopes of starting a new life in the “Land of the Free”. Fortunately, the people who do choose to legally migrate to America are generally motivated for success and well-educated. Even the immigrants who are not well educated are motivated to succeed, work hard and take jobs in areas where labor forces are low or jobs that a native-born American may not even consider, effectively making them a contributing member of society.
Today we live in a world of which some have come to understand where it all came from. So many different little contributions have accumulated over the years to create “today” in the United States of America. Not one factor is more important than the next, however, some have had a larger, lasting impact today. Immigration and racial discrimination have played the most important role as to why American society has altered. In 1917 America entered World War one. By doing this America played a grave role in conquering Germany and ushering peace to Europe. However, the Great War also meant that the US would change dramatically through historical issues and changes which resulted in American society. Industries had started to realize that it was not as simple as it was before to abstract the immigrants. As the country developed and became more successful it attracted outsiders who were searching for chances. During the 1920’s the United States began to confine immigrants due to cultural and economical purposes.
Immigration has been part of America since before the 17th century. America has evolved into what it is today due to immigration; however immigration as negative effects as well. Immigration is the building blocks for America. Every one that lives in America today are here because their ancestors immigrated here long ago. Over the years immigration as evolved into a more sophisticated matter. There are many laws they have been put in place to monitor and stop immigration. Immigration I a big factor in America but must be done correctly to insure Americas safety.
Throughout the 1800 and 1900 many German and Scandinavian immigrates made the trip to America. Even though they were leaving their homes and sometimes their families, they were doing it for the best. A lot of them lived in societies that were comprised of their culture but it was sometimes still a hard transition. Some of them were treated terribly at some point in time. They all had certain job they would do including farming and industry work. They brought great food to American and have tremendously influenced our culture today. Without these immigrants coming to America, the American culture would not be the same and they have really changed the way the country works.
Many immigrants came to America with many different reasons and share the same feeling. Jewish people were expunged from their homeland because of the long lasting, futile hatred between religions. The Chinese people fled from their mainland due to the upraising revolutions and the Opium war with the British. Lastly, the Japanese came to America because of the Meijin revolution that caused a lot of harness to the living of many Japanese in their home. They were all immigrated to America wishing to seek freedom, or better living conditions. This migration greatly affected the United States in many different aspects. For example, because of all the people from different countries in Africa coming to the U.S., they brought many of their cultures with them and also formed their own cultures which made the U.S. a much culturally diverse place for immigrants to live.
Immigration to the United States has been happening since the Mayflower landed at Plymouth Rock in 1492. America is one of the most diverse nations in the world, attracting people from every corner of the globe in hopes of a better way of life. America in the past has relied on migrant workers to balance the economies growth when internal resources have been exhausted; moreover, the agriculture business has depended on the seasonal employment of migrant workers from Mexico to meet the labor demand. Programs have been created in the past granting work contracts for the flood of Mexican labor into the United States, and new work programs are being analyzed to suffice the needs of the agriculture business today.

The Push-Pull Factor is when people migrate since something pushes them away from their native country or pulls them toward a new place. Such as my parents, Herminia, my mother was “pull” towards America because she was convinced that California was the state to have varied employment opportunities. Meanwhile Efrain, my father was “push” to America, because his community had ecological problem. Even though my parents had immigrated to California, they differently learned about loss of innocence, injustice, and both learned about companionship as a salvation.
I interview my father who arrive to the united states from Mexico The major problem that motive my father to migrate to the U.S.A were as he mention on pages (1-2) was an economically problem has he said since he was a child he grew up in a farm with his parents and brothers and sisters and had many struggles since the only one that work was his father. My grandfather did all he could to give him an education and a better life that he had that’s the same idea he view for me when he become a father he was young and money was like the priority to care for the necessary that a child has, but to get money you need to have a job. With salary he earned at my grandfather farm he knew was not enough to support himself and a child and he could get any better job since he had not yet finish school so the only job he probably might had was a job that pay the same he was been pay at my grandfather farm.
Although refugees need to come to America, they should be examined thoroughly first. If someone were to be sick, they could spread the sickness to America.
I was born in Mexico, but I been raised in the US since I was 1 year old. In 1999 was when my parents decided to immigrate to the US because the earnings from my parents working high amount of hours in maquiladora plants wasn’t going to be enough to pay the bills. My parents and I came to the US not having any connections and we were living in a cold garage in inhumane conditions, my dad would ride his bike 14 miles a day to the Cultural Center in Cornelius and wait for a one-day job offer and sometimes people that would pick him up to work would abuse of him and end up not paying him. My parents figured that all of us living in the US wasn’t going to be sustainable either so my mother and I went back to Mexico while my dad stayed in the US

The introduction and first chaper discussed briefly immigration prior to World War II and then how immigration shifted post-war.
