To eat the correct nutrients one should know what exactly a nutrient is. A nutrient is a substance that is needed for your growth and maintenance of life. There are two types of nutrients which are called micronutrients and macronutrients. Micronutrients you should only ingest a small amount of. Macronutrients you should ingest large amounts of.
Macronutrients provide your body with energy and usually are eaten in large portions. There are three different basic macronutrients which are protein, carbohydrate, and fat. Most foods that are consumed contain all three of these macronutrients but in most circumstances one macronutrient is primary. Obesity isn’t completely understood but it comes down to the amount of calories you eat and the amount you use. If the amount of calories you are consuming isn’t in balance with the amount of calories you are using then you will become obese. A person should maintain a neutral energy balance when they are to the average weight for their height. This means that you take in as many calories in food as you do energy.
Another way to get the nutrition you need and to stay healthy is simple, eat a good breakfast. After sleeping your body needs a nice breakfast. Breakfast fills your body like a kick-start. For example, when you eat a bowl of cereal with milk, a slice of whole-grain toast, and drink a glass of juice, you become happier and energetic. Teens that eat a healthy breakfast have also proven that when you do so your test scores will rise and you will miss fewer days of school. There are a variety of different vitamins and minerals and each one has a specific job. These vitamins and minerals are natural substances found in many different foods. Couple examples of food and drinks that give vitamins and minerals are milk, water, cheese, fresh fish, and green and leafy vegetables. Vitamins are also found in fresh fruits. Carrots and fish provide vitamin A which is needed for healthy eyes and skin. Spinach, nuts, and beans provide vitamin B which is needed for healthy nerves and skin. Strawberries and oranges provide vitamin C which provides healthy blood and gums. Nuts and avocados provide vitamin E which provides healthy cells and skin. Finally, broccoli and peas provide vitamin K which is needed for clotting
