Did you know that 5,000 kids in Calgary go to school every day without food?
It is understood that by as early as 2050, the world will gradually run out of food. Statistics reveal that this is due to the increase of population in developing nations. But the increase in population should not result in food deficiency. By 2050, we will have a world population of 9.7 billion people and the earth can feed 10 billion at maximum with the resources we have unless everyone stops eating meat. That would be fine if we didn't waste our food. Food waste affects humans, it is also affecting the environment. The more food we throw out, the more we have to grow. I plan to design flyers to give out to the school and the community about food waste and what they can do to help our watershed. I will also be giving stores who are working with me bottled water to sell as a fundraiser as well with labels on them telling them about our watershed and the impact wasted food has on it. I would also like to put up posters around the school and the community to promote the idea of being cautious when you purchase food because a lot of it ends up being wasted. I will need money to pay the guy who will drive the truck and pick the foods up at the end of the day and to pay for the gas. I can bring a bit of income for my project by holding a fundraiser. By saving food we are also saving the environment of ours and our kids. By giving people food that is still edible will keep food out of the landfills, which will keep the earth cleaner. When we throw food out, we are needing to grow more and more using more and more of the earth nutrients. We get food stores to give their leftover food that can't be sold anymore to the Mustard Seed or Leftovers Calgary for people who can benefit from the food. There are people in this world who can actually benefit from the food we throw in the trash every single day. Everything we do has a plan a and b but remember there's no planet
