Some people experience traumatic things ranging from the worst thing you can imagine to something not as bad. When you are only 12 years old and you watch and do something to make it stop, you will never be the same as you were before. People fluctuating from a young age to people who are in their declining years can be abused. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo expresses things that you wish never existed or ever happened. Unfortunately, they do. Stieg Larsson witnessed something when he was younger and did nothing to stop it. Larsson Wrote this book with the intention of trying to do something about the way women were treated.

The secondary main character Lisbeth Salander is both a victim and survivor of rape. “I don’t think it would be a good idea for you to tell anyone about our games”(Larsson p.244 ). Salander uses her past to fuel her passion of exposing and punishing the men who deserve it for what they have done to the women. Many women like Salander, who weigh less than men by lots have more of a struggle of being forced to do something. “you will so precisely everything in your power to ensure I am declared competent ” (Larsson p.286). Salander is taking over her situation, while there is a woman or girl who cannot do that because they are stuck somewhere or always with the person who is raping them. The person who is trapped may not be able to think quickly on their feet. Some may not be able to think of a plan to get out because they are scared for their life. Simple things such as noticing things about someone can help them out by knowing that someone cares. Someone might be smarter than what people say. Many people have said and quoted “you can never tell a book by it’s cover” (Lester Fuller and Edwin Rolfe) and it is true, it could have an ugly cover but be so great inside. Lisbeth has many tattoos on her, but that does not mean that she is a scary person or a thug. You cannot tell why someone is they way they are just by looking at them you have to get to know them. People such as Salander get judged by how they look and not on what people see after they know her. Salander has fought through so many things to get to where she is now.
