In the Christmas Hunt by Borden Deal, I believe the theme is “Greed clouds better judgement”. I believe that is true to this book closer to the ending. Tom’s father said Tom was only ten and that he was far too young. Tom had visions of him being the best shot but in reality couldn't shoot anything but he's father’s main hunting dog, Calypso Baby. Tom’s dreams of being “the best shot” blinded him from reality. After he accidentally shot the dog he told his father he didn't deserve the bike he had wanted that year. Tom’s father agreed and had said “this is your own punishment for yourself”. The next day his father had bought him a puppy, one of Calypso Baby’s babies. Christmas Under fire is a World War II propaganda film created by the G.P.O film unit under the instruction of the Ministry of Information. It was released in 1941 in an attempt to get the isolated United States to engage Germany and the Axis powers in World War II. The purpose of the film according to the director Harry Watt was to make Americans feel “Uncomfortable while they celebrated Christmas.”(Sarah Street, 79). The film showed the Christmas of 1940 which occurred at the height of the Blitz of London. The Blitz of London was a period of intense aerial bombing of London and the surrounding area. These attacks happened in night-time raids to instill fear and destroy the morale of the British people. The government used its control over the media to maintain the appearance that life was going on as normal despite the nightly bombings. This is apparent in other propaganda films, such as “London can take it”. Which is the prequel to Christmas under Fire.

Each character lies to himself to accept his actions in his life. Kenny, Frank, and Tub need to successfully fool themselves before they can deceive anyone else. Each of the men are immature and selfish. They don't realize how their decisions impact other people's lives. They justify their lies with their own insecurities about their lifestyles. Their lies impact the situations they encounter and change their lives forever.

The main theme that is demonstrated throughout the story is that greediness can and will destroy all in its path almost like a tornado and sometimes can even get in the way of the truth while also taking the place of love. In the story the mother and father are heartless and unable to show love to their children because of their ongoing greediness. Neither the mother nor the father showed his or her love for the children and they were both more focused unbeknownst to them on their greedy habits....

They decide to split up and Dr. Watson is given the task to stay by Sir Henry’s side while looking for clues. They cross paths against and Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson meet to discuss this case as a murder. They find major clues against Mr. Stapleton leading to his death. The novel explores the theme of not being ruled by fear through characters dealing with the apparent supernatural myth coming to life.
“The riskiest thing you can do is get greedy.” That is exactly what the protagonist, Balram Halwai, does in order to become successful. Being a loyal worker to anyone around him, Balram realizes soon after that there is more in the world than working for someone. He can be his own boss and he likes that idea more. Greed and the temptation of more takes over his mind and morphs him into a different character. In the novel, The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga, Balram begins by having a sense of self and respect for others, but after realizing that higher success is also achievable it changes him into a darker character with no moralities what so ever, depicting how greed of success can take a man of the right path.

Into the Wild, by Sean Penn, illustrates the story of a young man’s journey into the Alaskan wilderness. The theme of the movie revolves around the escape of civilization to find happiness and freedom. The main character, Christopher McCandless, is a young adventurer who has lived a life that many would view as comfortable. He is the son of wealthy parents and a recent graduate of Emory University. However, Chris is not happy with his life. Because of their status in society, his parents hold him to very high expectations. For Chris it’s too much and eventually he rebels. He views both society and his parents as money driven and materialistic and felt he needed an escape. Fed up, Chris flees from his dysfunctional family without saying a word.

Orwell knew he was stuck with hatred for the empire that he severed and his wrath against the people who made his job tougher.
