The importance of Political Science is almost immeasurable. Politics is ingrained into every single thing that happens in this world; therefore, without the proper understanding of this field, society would struggle, even more than it already does, to have peaceful existence. No matter what career choice I decide on, I will be glad to have gained basic political science information. Trying to understand politics can be mind boggling; however, The Challenge of Politics: An Introduction to Political Science is a great uncomplicated text that allows students to get a good grasp on the general frame of politics. I felt as if it had all the information we need; however, it did not overwhelm us with so much material that we could retain the important aspects. The organization of the book makes it very easy to read and refer back to while studying. The graphs included are a helpful when trying to understand the text. Also, the pictures give an image to the stories and situations that the book refers to throughout. In addition, the book list external sources that the reader can use to supplement the text. I liked being able to have tools to help me study and further my knowledge. I would recommend this book for future classes if they release an updated version of the …show more content…

Between political philosophy and ideology, comparative politics, and public policy, I can say that I feel I have the most basic understanding of politics. The title The Challenge of Politics: An Introduction to Political Science, says it all; politics is a challenge to fully grasp, but this text and this class has given me a solid foundation of knowledge from with I can base my future decisions on. No matter my future career path, this class taught me valuable information. Just in general it is important as a citizen to understand how our government works. In addition, it helped me form a well-educated idea on what type of government I want to elect into power. Furthermore, the text was full of basic political science material; thus, giving me a good overview of the things I will continue to learn in political science classes. The text was well written with great additional graphs, pictures, and resources between the covers. Although there were a few things that could be improved upon, I think that this text is worth using for the future classes of POLS
