The Abbey Church of Corvey is located in Westphalia, Germany. It was built in the late 9th century, however, it’s upper stories were built in the mid 12th century. The Chartres Cathedral is located in Chartres,France. Building began 1134 and was rebuilt in 1194 after a fire and building continued to 1260. The north spire of the building was built 1507-1513. The facade of the Abbey Church is rectangular-shaped. It is a tall building with several stories and towers. The middle of it has three arches and a door. There are five rows of windows and two towers on the westwork. Each tower has two rows of windows and pointed roofs. There are crosses on the top of each tower and the roof of the building is tiled. The towers of the church have cone-shaped tops with one being larger than the other. There is a large circle shaped window in the center of the west facade. There are windows in the towers and windows at the base. There are doors and pedestals.There are details carved into the building which include the image of holy figures. The dimensions of both churches are very different from each other. The base of the Abbey Church is taller than that of the Chartres Cathedral when you compare it to the overall height of the churches. However, the Chartres Cathedral’s towers are taller in ratio to its base. The two churches also differ in color with the Abbey Church being a medium brown and the Chartres Cathedral being a light beige. The shapes the two churches use are also different. The Chartres Cathedral church uses more variety of shapes in its design while the Abbey Church centers around rectangular
