Margaret Thatcher came to power in 1979, becoming the first female Prime Minister of the UK, and has been one of the most divisive political figures in British history. Her polices were that of Neo Liberal economic ideas, latterly to be known as Thatcherism.
Her three successive terms in power have proved to be a pivotal moment in political and economic history of Britain, shifting the political spectrum to be focused around a new Neo-Liberal centre. With the creation of New
Labour
evolving out of this period in reaction, Thatcher
herself stated this was her greatest achievement, as it proved that the political spectrum in the United Kingdom had indeed shifted. With regards to housing, this Neo Liberal economic model, which is now, the dominant ideology in the UK, has had profound effects on housing with the quantity of this dramatically changing, and the quality potentially being affected too. ...

Frank McCourt’s, Angela’s Ashes, is an engaging memoir about his experience in the penury filled streets of Limerick, Ireland. Frank shares his adventure through life starting with his incredulous childhood. Frank’s scathing childhood consists of great deprivation; however, he adds humor throughout to lighten the tone. First of all, Frank’s parents, Angela and Malachy, both struggle to provide for their children. Due to diseases and poor living conditions, three of Frank’s siblings die at young years. Furthermore, Frank’s father is constantly in and out of jobs causing his family to live off of practically nothing. Frank, who wants to be a man and make money, looks up to his father even though he doesn’t provide for the family. Additionally, Frank dreams of going to America and begins to save his wages for the trip when he gets his first job as a messenger boy. He attempts several different jobs until he saves enough for his trip. At the end of the novel, Frank goes to America leaving his family and Ireland. Although he is sad, he has great expectations for the future. Frank McCourt’s memoir, Angela’s Ashes, is a heart-wrenching novel about his shocking experiences throughout his adventure in life.
Queen Emma was a crucial figure in improving the overall wellbeing of the Hawaiian people. The Hawaiian people did not have many options for good healthcare and schooling. Queen Emma cared about her people, so she made the effort to get better resources for them. Queen Emma contributed to the overall wellbeing of the Hawaiian people by founding Iolani School and St. Andrew's Priory, by founding Queen's Hospital, and by working to represent her people in politics.
In this essay, I posit that despite the harsh clashes between liberalism and republicanism, both elements play important roles in American politics, and their marriage has given birth to a unique America. I will begin by giving brief explanations about liberalism and republicanism, before showing how their dynamic interaction has given rise to American exceptionalism. It is also important to note that the slight emphasis on liberalism more than republicanism that is also evident in the US Constitution.
House prices have been affected by the number of people who buy houses to rent out and this has had an impact on younger people wanting to buy homes. Thus, the term ‘generation rent’ has come to the forefront in recent years. In A Century of Home-ownership and Renting (The Open University, 2016) census data presented supports the claim for the use of this term. In the video, they mention levels of home-ownership dropped for the first time since records began. From 69% to 64% in the space of 10 years and the percentage of households privately renting has been on the rise. 11% in 1981 compared to 18% in 2011. In addition, house prices have risen faster than previous years and banks have also restricted lending. These factors have all lead to more people not being able to afford a home of their own, especially at a younger age. So, as house prices rise this benefits the home-owners and allows them to gain more wealth and capital. The distribution of wealth has been affected by changes in these markets. When I hear the term Feminism I automatically think its about doing things for women, and what they stand for, so I didn't really have a good idea about it. So I went online and looked it up. "Feminism consists of ideas and beliefs about what culture is like for women just because they are women, compared to what the world is like for men just because they are men. In ethical terms, this form or aspect of feminism is descriptive. Karl Marx was a German philosopher whose work are thought to still have an influence even on todays society. Marx believed that material goods were the root of the social world and that social life is fundamentally about conflict over food, land, money, and other material goods. The ideal government for Marx would be a communist state where resources are equally shared. However, here in America it seems we will always have a democratic government where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. For my final paper I will use the marxist theoretical ideas to investigate how Wal-Mart uses their economic and financial power to exploit their workers and suppliers. I will use Marx’s theory to understand how Wal-Mart not only manipulates and exploits its employees and suppliers but, also how they are able to alienate their employees. Marx’s theories remain as powerful framework for explaining the actions of a billion dollar multinational company because of its focus Wage-Labor, Surplus Value and Alienation. By sharing with the reader the reasons why Wal-Mart should be considered a threat to our society by using Marx theories, I hope to bring attention the true cost of getting things for a bargain. For the purpose of this paper I will be focusing on his theories about Wage-Labor, Surplus Value and Alienation and using them to explain Wal-Marts actions.

Conservatives typically have traditional values, and believe that these values should be honored in politics. Additionally, Conservatives support cuts to public health benefits and welfare programs. The Conservative Agenda is in favor of laissez-faire and free enterprise.
The discrimination of a person based on their sex has always been prevalent in society, and even though both genders can be affected by sexism, it has typically been associated with females. In the article “Sexism in Society,” the author states that “sexism is an oppression that is hard to avoid, as it is difficult to rid ourselves of the social institutions of gender that we have been taught at a very young age.” Throughout history, women have been expected to avoid vying with men regarding education, employment, politics, and the media.
Through the entire history we saw how human beings were fighting for power and their rights. Men or women, they were looking for power. Some people wanted that power to use it in a wrong way, for example, slaving others or steal people’s belongings. Other wanted that power so they can be equal. People of color wanted that power to be equal with white people, in most cases, and women wanted that power so they can be equal to men. It was not an easy journey and as we can still see it today all the problems are not fix yet and so there’s still women out there, fighting constantly, so we can all be equal.
Recent years have been challenging for the whole country and particularly for the construction sector and the architectural profession. Challenging times do however, afford the opportunity for reflection and debate about what is provided and delivered by the architectural profession.
Throughout my life, I have experienced and seen my family affected by issues that revolve around feminism. I myself have learned from these experiences and now have a different view on women’s rights. I personally consider myself a feminist because I believe that women should have equal rights to men, and everyone should be held accountable for their actions. When I was younger I did not view women’s rights as something that was a priority, but a controversial topic. After going through a traumatic occurrence with an ex-boyfriend and seeing my sister mentally damaged through her own incident, I stand with many other women when I call myself a feminist.
