Thirty years ago, (August 17, 1987), I enter the Dallas Accounting Center in Renaissance Tower ready to make my mark on the world as an Accountant I at Mobil Oil Corporation. Invited to interviewed with multiple departments, my eyes were set on working in the Joint Interest Accounting Group , affectionately known as the Country Club Group. When I showed up to work on Monday, my position was not in Joint Interest Accounting but just across the aisle in Audits & Receivables (Not the country club group!). Attempting to hide my disappointment, I began training with Mr. Otis Coney who immediately put me to work. During my first week of work at Mobil, I worked to 10 pm one-night rewriting check request because I had signed them incorrectly. I think I went in my purse and took him a Penny. Convinced that Mr. Coney came to work to make me miserable, I decided to visit the country club and complain about Mr. Coney to Robin Beasley. Robin, who knew of my desire to work in her group befriended me and told me that Otis was very smart and a good guy and everything would be all right.
