Driving and talking at the same time is just as dangerous. Talking distracts the driver from what is going on in front of them. The ability to concentrate on the act of driving is equal to that of a drunk driver. According to a government release in June 2005, the distraction of cell phones was far more likely to lead to car crashes than any other distractions caused by drivers. Dialing a number takes the drivers eyes off the road, giving enough time for a collision to happen. It is impossible for someone to look at the road and at their cell phone at the same time. If the driver is talking on the phone and they get into an argument with the other person, it can cause their mind to not think right, which is dangerous. Being as dangerous as it is, more people get into collisions by texting than having phone calls. Although, it is just as fatal as texting while driving is. In an attempt to dial a phone number, or type a text message, it gets the driver distracted. When the driver looses concentration, they tend to have slower reflexes. If the driver needed to react quickly, they would not be able to do so because of lack of concentration. Over 1,000 people are injured daily due to a distracted driver. (11.Idaho.gov-Give Help.
