Being a teen activist means you are passionate about changing the world, one step at a time. A teen activist is someone who stands up for a cause, no matter how difficult it might seem. T0 become a teen activist, you have to have passion, and care deeply for something going on in today’s world. I will show you what a teen activist really is, and what they do. First off, teen activists all take part in a cause, whether it’s starting an organization or fighting it on your own. According to ABC News, Malala Yousafzai is a teen activist who fights for women’s education. She lived in Swat Valley, Pakistan, where she went to school. For example, when Malala spoke out for women’s education, the Taliban got very upset and the leader of the Swat Taliban shot her point blank. Surprisingly, she survived. Even though someone had shot her and she could have died, she got back up and still fought back against the Taliban. Another example is Alex Lin. In an interview Alex Lin is a teen activist who tries to stop computers and electronics from ending up in landfills. He read an article in the Wall Street Journal which talked about e-waste. Alex realized this was a big issue, and started a group called WIN. They decided to start refurbishing old computers and then sent them to media centers they built. It got so popular that they went to the government of Rhode Island with a petition to stop e-waste. They failed. But WIN went back, and got a bill passed. Even though the government said no, they found a way to get the bill passed. He had said, “Because all we had back when it started in 2002 was this art hook to go by from there. ” It wasn’t like he had a whole campaign touring the country, all he had was one article.
