Teen Activists are brave. They show courage helping others and fighting for what they believe in, sometimes risking there for others. Being a teen activist, you can expect to fight through many obstacles as you advocate for your cause. Malala Yousafzai and Faye Carey, are both teen activists whose lives inspire and give hope to others who have a passion and wish to make the world a better place. Stories were being told, except we weren’t sure if they were true. Rumours were spreading about how the Taliban treated people, but time went by and nothing changed. When the world started to fall silent, Malala Yousafzai, with all her courage and strength, spoke up. She has suffered for doing that, but she doesn’t regret it. Every word she says is expressed with concern. She knows that even her small voice, can and has, changed the world. Malala Yousafzai is a young activist from Swat Valley, Pakistan. Faye Carey is a teen activist who wants to stop animal abandonment. She may not have a lot of time on her hands, but she always has time to help animals that are in need. Like Faye said herself, “I dedicate my life to saving and rescuing abandoned dogs.” She also has a Facebook page dedicated to helping abandoned animals. Faye Carey has helped a lot of abandoned animals and she still does to this day.

Faye Carey is a 16 year old girl that has managed to re-home more than 60 dogs. News Hub says that ¨She wants to have a career in animal control.¨ ¨She has made a Facebook page called Animal Re-Home Waikato.¨ Says News Hub. Her Facebook page has nearly 300 likes and a loyal following of new parents. (Of animals). News Hub also said that ¨With Faye being there, when an animal comes into the shelter or animal control, the animal goes right into a new loving home. ¨
I am deeply committed to social activism; the words of Desmond Tutu inform my actions every day: “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” At Phillips Academy, I am active in Women’s Forum, BOSS Magazine, and GSA.These activities give me the opportunity to speak out on issues such as race, feminism, LGBTQ+ rights, and intersectionality, but as much I value discussion, I would like to move beyond mere conversation; I want to do something. I want my life and my work to make a difference in the world.
Social movement is very common in all communities. They involve a group of people who come together with a common goal. The people have a common ideology and they decide to work together to see that this things have changed. Their main intention is to achieve a certain goal in the long run. The social movement is respected everywhere as they give rise a common goal and objective (Hobsbawm, 1965). All of these are related to the social changes that are happening in the country in the long run. This is hence very important for the people in the long run as it is very advantageous.
Since she was 11 years old, Malala has been writing a blog on the Urdu BBC website to show her hope and determination to become a doctor in spite of her fear against the Taliban. Her story of courageous actions created a big sensation in the public(weird grammar). From then on, she is referred to as a symbol of courage and inspiration for all young women, who want to relish the chance to go to school.
Being an activist is not something simple to do , you face many struggles along the way . One struggle may be that you may hit a stopping point which could put you in a bad place and you may not want to continue being an activist . The second struggle may be that you notice you can't do all the work on your own . The third struggle is that you may not have the patience to see the changes that you will make in the future . Teen activism has its ups and down but that's what make it a learning experience .
Do you want to be a hero? Well I sure do. Teen activist do that exactly. Teen activism is when a teenager or a kid, stands up for something that they want or sometimes need. It takes hard work and determination to be a teen activist. Such as what Malala, Alex and the other Alex did to help freedom for girls to go to school in Pakistan. Alex lin helping recycle and Alex libby helps other people being bullied. I believe that teen activist are determined for these reasons.

Social movements have played a defining role for society’s actors since the mid-18th century when followers of the English politician, John Wilkes, ran for the lower house of parliament on a platform to promote civil rights for all citizens of England . This social movement was not phenomena, but a direct response to changes occurring at the time namely: urbanization, use of print media, and the growing idea of popular sovereignty . In addition, the Enlightened writings of European, mostly French, philosophes were impacting much of the Western world which was just on the cusp of several revolutions for independence from the dominating and repressive political culture . According to Francis Fukuyama, “civil society serves to balance the power of the state and to protect individuals from the state’s power” . Civil society promotes democracy. Global civil society is also democratic in nature and creates a platform for dialogue . However, even in democracies, there are injustices and inequalities. Enter the role of social movements in global civil society. Social movements “organize and mobilize those who have failed to find redress for their grievances through the existing political system” . They seek to bring to the forefront issues that often challenge the dominant social, political, or economic structure.
Being a teenager isn’t easy. You have a lot of things on your mind, a lot of things to worry about, a lot of things to carry and when I mean carry, I mean both physically and mentally. During the 17 years of my life that I have lived so far, I believe that I have never carried this much before. Part of it I think is because it’s senior year.
