Reflection
When reflection upon my lesson that I taught, I feel that I taught in a multimodal way to deepen the students understanding of the material being taught. I had never designed a meson plan for any students before especially not 5-year-old students. Therefore, I wanted to be sure that I could accurately convey the concept to the children. So, when it came to constructing my lesson, I wanted to make sure that I included auditory, visual, and tactile strategies in my lesson so I reach all the students different learning modalities.
By using this multimodal teaching strategy, I was able to assess the students’ understanding of the concept by seeing how they responded to the different learning methods used. I verbally discussed the concept

This factor is not visible in my artifacts but I did notice it when I was teaching. I noticed that once the students become captivated with the lesson, the class would all seem to simultaneously raise their hands to talk or some would just yell out the answer. Therefore, I need to come up with strategies and phrases to halt the student responses so I can continue teaching. I also had to learn that it is okay not to answer all the students’ questions to converse time and finish the lesson. One more thing that I need to use in my further lesson is when I asked a lesson clarifying question to just ask it once. There was a situation where I was the students if they had any questions that pertained to the concept or to the worksheet which multiple people raised their hands. I answered a couple of questions then repeated myself just incase there was any last minute thinkers but when I answered the second set of questions it seemed to get off topic and didn’t pertain to the concept or worksheet. So, I think that I will only ask that clarifying question once to refrain from veering off topic before the students are suppose to complete a worksheet that pertains to the concept taught in the
Seventh, people prefer to work along and use self-study. Our brain can control multi-zone when we studying. So multimodal is a balance of all the different learning styles. For a long time, I think I’m a person who likes visual and physical learning style. I thought I can learn better and faster when I took a hands-on approach. When I was working for ShuiMu Tsinghus University editorial department I enjoying working work with computers. I like the keyboard’s noise. Because the louder noise it makes the better touch it has. The physical aspects of manipulating the keyboard and the visual depictions on the screen fit right into my preferred learning style. This learning style reflects on my normal studying. According to the VARK questionnaire, I possess a multimodal learning style. Being a multimodal learner is advantageous, as it allows the learner to adapt their style to each learning situation (Robertson, Smellie, Wilson, & Cox, 2011). The results further displayed that I am primarily a kinesthetic, but also a visual learner. These two distinct learning styles have much in common with cognitivist and constructivist learning theories.
The article is written in a clear language and offers easy to implement strategies to use in the classroom. I also appreciated the explanations given with the strategies to help educators understand the relevance of trying this method with their students.
There are many different types of learning styles including, visual, aural, multi-modal, and kinesthetic (Welch). People that prefer to learn visually like to see pictures and graphs while someone that is an aural learner needs auditory stimulation like lectures and music. For someone that is a kinesthetic leader, they enjoy the hands on activities in a classroom. This would include building things, role playing, and real life experiences. However, some people prefer two or more learning styles, these people are considered multimodal learners. One goal of ours is to get students to become multimodal learners. We then plan to find a workshop that specializes in teaching professors about different learning styles and how to adjust their teaching methods to be able to get through to students with a variety of learning
Learning methods simply mean a person’s natural desired way of take in, managing and memorizing new content and skills. There are three major models that look at the way on how a person learns best including: auditory, visual, and sense of touch. Auditory is when a person learns through conversation such as listening and talking. Visual is when a person learns through imitating such as observing and copying. Sense of touch is when a person learns through physical actions such as movement and touch. Different learning methods are being taught by teachers to teach mathematic skills to 2nd graders in today’s classroom, but only certain learning methods can enhance the learning experience for the students. In the long run, this could help students to build a solid foundation for their mathematic skill and succeed in their future academic school years.
It is appropriate to know that this teaching practice is “multidimensional” because it involves getting new knowledge, performance assessment, techniques of instructing, classroom climate, the content of curriculum, relationship between a teacher and student. There is need for teachers from different disciplines to cooperate in disseminating concepts of a single culture as students play an active role in evaluating their performance (Banks, 2006).

Learning styles is one of the ways schools have changed over the past couple of years in regards to diversity. The varieties of learning styles of students have become more aware to educators. There are three main learning styles; visual learning, kinesthetic learning, and auditory learning. Visual learners take up about half of student learners using textbooks, charts, course outlines, and graphs are useful instructional aides (Sadker, p. 47). Kinesthetic learning is also known as tactile learning. These students learn by hands on learning. Planning for student to have movement in class will help these learners. Our last learning style is the less of the three called auditory learning. These students learn best by hearing; they can remember the details of conversations and lectures and many have strong language skills (Sadker, p. 47). By providing a time for these students to recite the lesson themselves can support this form of learning. To be an effective teacher for all the learning style diversities means being able to be flexible and incorporate a variety of teaching techniques.

Therefore, this person would benefit more from using a virtual lab, where he or she can utilized different software to conduct an actual experiment. Visual learner learn better seeing representation of something. For example watching a video, they are able to see how something is been done in order to retain the information. By implementing technology all of these learning styles are to be targeted at one time. “By using kinesthetic learning techniques, thousands of students who are either kinesthetic or have ADHD or ADD have become top students using our methods and materials” (Linksman, 2000).
Ever been sitting in on a lecture, and being the only one in class to not understand? Different people learn differently; this is called our own personalized learning styles. When some take notes to memorize, other may create a poster or some other form of art, and it just clicks. My learning style is visual, others may be more in tune to haptic, or auditory ways of learning. Soren Kierkegaard once said, “Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.” Although life may be an ever-moving conveyor headed to an eventual end; it is important to look behind us to understand what has happened. Through this understanding, we are then able to better live as we continue on this journey called life. Although not explicitly stated, Mr. Kierkegaard is speaking of the importance of reflection. It is important to reach milestones, look back, and figure out how you conquered the once seemingly impossible. Only through reflection can you then conquer the next mountain, which will surely be even bigger than the last. In a similar way, the mountain I have recently conquered is leading a group of 6 freshmen to a common goal. Even though I was well prepared and had a fairly good grasp of what would be required of me, traversing over this metaphorical mountain has shown me new parts of myself that were previously unknown.
During this College Composition course, I came across numerous obstacles and educational involvements. Every factor of this course contributed to my overall learning experience. For starters, we often read out of our textbooks, “The Little Seagull Handbook” and “They Say I Say”. These books helped showcase proper writing techniques. In addition, we would have class discussions that everyone would participate in. This opened my eyes to different viewpoints that could influence my writing. I recall one class we had a debate over a topic and everyone had to choose a side to argue. Then when we wrote argument essays, even though they were on a different topic, it helped me view my topic in different ways. Lastly, the most helpful to my writing was peer review. We were told to read our paper out loud to our partner. Although personally I am quiet and dislike reading out loud, I found this very helpful. Instantly, my partner and I could find grammar mistakes that one may not pick up on while reading silently. Then we could also talk about other possible revisions for my paper. For every paper, we would have conferences with the professor. This was effective as well to have a professional giving corrections and ideas.
