In the synthesis paper, “The Price of Justice” by Jenna Haack there are numerous flaws and wrongdoings, including but not limited to weak topic sentences, quotes that are poorly embedded and cited, and failing to effectively communicate and analyze the arguments that are portrayed in the film Dead Man Walking directed by Tim Robbins.
In the paper “The Price of Justice” the topic sentences are consistently inadequate and unclear. In order to have better developed paragraphs, the topic sentences need to be a solid, well thought out sentence that leads into the paragraph effectively. One way to improve the quality of a topic sentence is to ensure the paragraph follows and supports what the topic sentence is about. However, in the case of the Dead Man Walking paper plagiarism is not the problem, the problem is incorrectly citing quotes. For example, by not putting the sources on the work cited paper properly will cause downgrading. A simple fix to this problem is to double check each source and make sure that it correctly formated on the work cited page. Embedding quotes is a necessity in order to explain them but also to make sure the quote is not by itself without any of the student’s words to introduce it. Quotes should not come out of nowhere, similar to what happens in the essay “The Price of Justice”, in order to correct this error is to ensure there is a link from one quote or analysis to the next. This will improve the overall quality of the paragraph, and effectiveness of the evidence. By checking the list multiple times to ensure the quotes are accurately embedded and cited, the redrafted paper will be easier to understand, and have correctly cited
