I read the book The Scorch Trials by James Dashner. In my opinion, the topic of this book is conflict. On their journey, the characters all face countless examples of conflicts and work to resolve them, such as, saving the world, Group B, and the diseased humans the roam the Earth, also known as “cranks”. The main conflict of this book is that a group ok kids also known as “the gladers” who consists of Thomas, Minho, Aris, Newt, Winston, and Frypan whose task is to cross the “Scorch”, the area affected the greatest by the solar flares. The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier was a book that we read in class, it was about good and evil. It is about how the to forces battle for superiority over one another. The book tells how one of the sides over powers the other to claim its spot on top. The people are like pawns to two of the characters, Archie and Brother Leon because they use the people to get what they want from them, and will stop at nothing to get it. Both of characters will stop at nothing to have what they want, which is to have the power over the school.
The main conflict is man vs. man. It is more of a general conflict with slave owners versus slaves. Throughout the whole book, the struggles between slaves and their masters are shown. The story explains the harshness of slavery. With both nice and mean slave masters, slavery is terrible and that conflict is shown throughout the whole story.

Conflict is apart of the model of society. It is a very common component of reality and also in stories and other forms literature. In stories, it adds sensation and stimulates the minds the people who are reading it. Characters can be in conflict with another character, an object, or themselves. When characters are having conflicts however it is more than just a mere disagreement but it is a situation in which the characters detect a threat to their physical, emotional, power and status well-being.
