In the past when cell-phones, televisions and computers didn’t exist, people weren´t as “stuck in the world of media” as we are today. Nowadays almost everybody (especially people in industrial countries) own their own cell-phones, computers and other media gadgets. These tools give us possibility to use the Internet day and night. This probably is one of the reasons to why we are as occupied and addicted to media as we are today. Internet has taken media to another level as well as created a new industrial revolution in our world.
According to Dr. Gomathi Viswanathan it’s possible to do almost everything with help from the Internet today. For example you can read newspapers online, book tickets to the cinema, watch several movies, listen to music and so on. She means that there are sites on the Internet for every subject you can possibly think of. Other examples of positive circumstances the Internet can contribute with, are for instance making our lives much easier by giving us possibilities to use home banking and electronic fund transfer. It also helps us in the education area. We can for example take online examinations and take part of lectures that have been webcasted. We are also given the ability to sell and buy different services and products on the Internet, which makes life easier.
Another importance with the Internet is that we are able to collect valuable information in principle everything. We can access information in the best and cheapest way.
It has also contributed in revolutionizing the world’s communication with help from e.g. e-mail, skype and other websites where you are able to chat with people all over the world with no expensive cost.

It´s also written that computers and TVs and other media gadgets can contribute in children getting overweight. They can also be afflicted with undeveloped social skills and even start to show an addiction behavior for example being obsessed with their computers etc. Media can cause unhappiness in children´s lives. It can contribute in children getting ruined because of extreme pictures in for example inappropriate TV scenes, or because of violence in computer games. This can lead to a development of violent behavior.
In the article it´s also written that pedophiles use Internet to lure children into doing inappropriate things. This is something children should beware of so they don’t end up in bad situations.
