Sports Are Destroying Society

High schools across the nation are destroying our society by implementing sports into our culture according to Ryan, especially when some schools and teachers encourage students to be athletic and tryout for sports. Ryan then goes on to express what will become of society if we continue to encourage such behavior within our school system. Through examples, this is directed towards all students that want to or are a participant of athletes through schools. Ryan says the effects that sports can have on the society, and want to separate it from its role society. Specifically addressing students time energy and future and how then can avoid commitments with athletics.

Well some students are spending their energy in a gym working on skills that aren’t necessary such as accountability, teamwork, and responsibility other high school students are pursuing their own personal career of staying at home. Sports provide a unnecessary skills that aren't apart of their future in the real work or work environments skills that are not used on a daily basis, for instance Ryan States that teamwork is not essential because many workplaces do not require more than one person to work on the same project with the same common goal. This also shows that students are wasting their Energy on trying to connect with others and expand their own individual common knowledge. Ryan points out that recently that the number of America high school athletes have increased a significant number.Because of the increased number of student athletes may have resulted in America’s obesity level has dropped a small percentage. Now in many high schools across America some students have even pursued an opportunity to play at a college with their choice of sport. This is also causing some students to get scholarships to play their own individual sport. Meaning in the long run students will no longer be in as much debt as they have been in the past.
