Recommended: Internet influence on youth

“Content is fire, social media is gasoline” said Ryan Kahn. The question people from everywhere have been asking is “ Has social media and texting ruined my teenager’s live?” I believe social media and texting have dramatically hurt the lives of all teenagers. I challenge the decision to allow teenagers more access to social media. If it was tamed better, imagine how much easier these teenagers’ lives would be. Three critical reasons social media should be controlled more is because teenagers are being cyberbullied, they aren’t getting enough exercise nor keeping their body healthy, and students have almost completely lost face to face conversations. The first reason why I see social media ruining the lives of teenagers is because students have been getting cyberbullied on a daily basis. When I was 11 years old, a group of girls created a group chat with me in it and started pointing out my every flaw. I was already going through one of the hardest times with my family, but none of those girls knew. Teenagers are clueless so other students lives. No one knows what each other is going through at home. Not to mention, they think that since it is on social media, they won’t get caught or in trouble. Social media has become the center of most students lives and seem to have no time for other outdoor activities. Studies show that students are now not getting enough sleep at night because of texting and social media. Nine out of ten teenagers aren’t getting enough exercise also due to new social media. This is a very serious issue because these students are just kids. The parents and teachers should be taking away social media to help with keeping their bodies healthy and getting more
