Social Justice Synthesis: White Privilege “White privilege is an institutional, rather than personal, set of benefits granted to those of us who, by race, resemble the other people who hold the power positions in our institutions. One of the primary privileges is having greater power and resources than people of color do; in other words, purely on the basis of our skin color doors are open to us that are not open to other people” (Understanding White Privilege 62) White Privilege isn't something that this race can hold, give away, or completely stop. In "Differences in White Privilege Attitudes and Religious Beliefs Across Racial Effect Types." Mcconnell .E discusses the costs of White Privilege for People of color. African American men are usually perceived with violence, and gangs due to Stigma Priming. Stigma Priming is “referring to the effect of past experience with negative stereotypes on current behavior” (p. 894).Although violence and gangs do not fall under just one race, the ignorance in our society can often stereotype these actions to one particular race. This then affects personal lives, salaries, education and even more. For example, when Michael Brown was shot, they used a photo where Brown's hands were throwing up a peace sign, that they deemed as a “gang sign” and weeks later came out with a report that the Batman theater shooter was “ a brilliant science student” and the photo they decided to use was his graduation photo.This is only one of the many examples of …show more content…

The second level is interpersonal. The interpersonal level is made up of the interactions and relationships we have with others.Communication skills, behaviors, personalities are determined by this level and shown through the interactions with others.The last level is Organizational.This level is comprised of leaderships, groups, policies, practices, and social values.These are usually based off of a single leader who has created and enforced these practice, which then is adopted within a culture and enforced which then influence our personal and interpersonal levels.
