I would describe the Mesopotamians ideal of kingship as courageous and a shepherd of the people. The basis of the monarch’s legacy is his arrogance, courage, beauty, and god like self.
The epic suggests that they believe that the afterlife is a place of darkness and you do not see any light you do not eat and sit in a very dusty place.
The philosophy that comes across in Gilgamesh’s story is that he life is something to be enjoyed because once you die you will life your afterlife in eternal anguish.
The Epic of Gilgamesh portrays a good relationship between the gods and humankind because the gods were living with humankind in the city before it was destroyed. The gods did not know what was happening when the sky went dark but they fled …show more content…

I can infer that the Egyptians and the Mesopotamians were similar in the way that they had a written language, both of them were polytheistic, and they both built pyramid type things. The differences between the Egyptians and the Mesopotamians were their different views on what happens to you in the afterlife and how to bury people after they die.
The elements that are still around today are those that people can be polytheistic and people are in different classes based off of the occupation they are in. The elements that remain strange to modern society are if you commit a crime you could die, we do not have one supreme ruler like a pharaoh, and there are more than one type of religion.
The different types of Gods that people believe in and the laws and guidelines that they have to follow to be considered to pass into eternal life are not addressed in these documents. Some other perspectives that you might want to seek out are the agricultural, economic, and political perspectives.
These documents might be looked at to see how what your punishment would have been if you committed a certain crime and looked to compare the types of punishments that we have today to that time
