People tend to think that anyone who has trouble interacting socially has Autism, but this is not the case. There are specific signs to look for when attempting to find out if someone has Autism. These indicators will appear at specific times in a person’s life. Autism Speaks notes that Autism can be identified in children as early as 18 months, but most signs don't appear until the ages of 2 and 3 years of age. Autism is often paired with other health issues such as "gastrointestinal (GI) disorders, seizures, sleep disturbances, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety and phobias" ("What is Autism?"). The timing of a person’s inability to interact socially along with these other health issues can be a strong indicator of Autism. If they do not respond to their name or begin to put together phrases of two or more words that make sense by 24 months, then the risk of Autism is even greater ("Learn the signs"). These signs are just some of the earliest indicators of Autism. There are many more later in life that can be an even greater tell of Autism. Autism Speaks adds that if at any age a person refuses eye contact, doesn't interact with others, remains nonverbal, often repeats words or phrases, is upset over small things, and has an unusual tick they should be checked for Autism ("Learn the signs"). One great example of an unusual tick is the character Brick from The Middle. He always repeats the last word he says in a low whisper as he looks down at the ground. He also has an extreme love for books that takes over his life, much like how many people with Autism will have a particular hobby or thing that they are obsessed
