Should We have Longer School days

Why aren’t school days longer? A good question, but really, why? Well, it is because the current school day provides enough time for students to learn and socialize with just 6 hours. After school, most students have clubs, sports or even both, usually, they have time to get ready for those clubs and sports and maybe even do some homework before. But if the school day was extended, clubs and sports would get pushed later, students would be hard-pressed to find time to do homework, eat, and sleep. A longer school day would negatively affect students grades, health, and social life. Although useful for teaching, more time in class does not mean more subject learned. If teachers are using the same method of teaching, all it is doing is drilling the same topics into students heads, in such a way that they either don’t pay attention or don’t understand the topic. This is time they currently spend on extracurricular activities of their choice. Students will spend time in a basic physical education class instead of dance, karate or listening to music. Children already spend a large portion of their day being told what to do, how to do it and what rules to follow, and have little free time as it is.
