Technology is seen as a new, innovative device that helps out with our regular lives to some, but to others it is seen as a device that simply distracts from the simplicity of life. A large controversy going on right now is on whether or not technology should be incorporated more or less into our schools. Technology should definitely be incorporated more into our schools because it is a useful resource to the students, teachers, and administration. Technology is able to prepare our students for their future career, encourage our students to collaborate with others, and allows students/teachers/administration to share work and documents easily and quickly between each other. This just shows how the world is changing around us. Technology has become an important resource in our jobs and by teaching the students how to work with technology at a young age, so it will be an easier transition when they are older. The students won’t have to take any basic technology courses simply teaching them how to work their device because they will already have practice with it. By teaching the students how to work efficiently with their technology now, it puts them ahead in life later. Some might say that by giving the students technology, they will be distracted from whatever task is at hand, but you could also say that by giving students a pencil and paper, they could be distracted by doodling. You will always have some students that are distracted in their work space, including when you don’t have any technology around. The good thing about technology is their are multiple restrictions that you can put, not only on the device itself, but on the wifi that the student is using. For instance, Accenture wrote an article that states, “[...]embedding collaborative technologies deep into processes and incentivizing collaborative behaviors—ultimately transforming the way organizations turn knowledge into action. Collaboration platforms should do more than help employees talk about their work; they should create new ways for employees to do their work.” This just shows that technology is creating new ways for people to do the task at hand. Technology allows people to, not only work on projects together at work, but also to work on that project at home or in another area where they aren’t together. This is an effective way to use technology because it quickens that amount of work you are able to get done. Some might say that students don’t collaborate when they have sites they can go to for their information instead, but this isn’t necessarily true. Students are able to collaborate on answers that they found on reliable sources and compare the answers they found with that of another student. This allows the student to gain more information, and accurate information, opposed to when you simply ask a student a question that they are unsure of and have to answer off of what they know best. So, which is more reliable, collaborating with students who are unsure about the right answer or students who have checked reliable sources to ensure that their answers
