First thought that comes to mind when I am asked to describe myself as a writer is all my weaknesses, but my strengths, writing process, past mistakes, and style all come into play as well. The question is so broad and can take many different directions. The purpose of my review is for myself; to understand my writing and to recognize my strengths and weaknesses. My review is for my fellow classmates; hopefully to recognize similarities and differences in what works and what does not work for us, and possibly help each other out with our weaknesses. This review is also for my professor, to understand what I think of myself and to help me throughout the semester to improve as a writer. I find procrastination as a huge problem, in general for everything. I can sit down one night ready to write my paper, and end up doing it the next morning, because I got distracted by unimportant tasks. I find procrastination robbing me of my time, which affects the quality of my paper. Last semester for World Civ, we had a huge research paper due. We were given the assignment the first day of class, and had plenty of time to do it. Being me, I waited last minute to do the paper, and what I turned in was not my best work. I lacked a few sources, I was way under the page requirements, and my thesis was very weak. Out of my many weaknesses this is a huge one, but it can be improved. As I grow as a writer, I see minor improvements with my work that I used to struggle with in the past. When I am asked what I believe my strengths are, it takes me a lot longer to respond compared to when I am asked about my weaknesses. One of my strengths is being able to handle arguments. I enjoy writing argumentative essays the most out of all academic writings, because it gives you lots of room for your own voice and opinion. This strength helps me improve in areas I struggle, like producing a thesis. Another strength I noticed in my papers is that I write simple and get right to the point.
