Screening Reflection The hearing, speech, and language screening was a wonderful experience to see what the processing of screening an adult was like as a Speech-Language Pathologist. It was extremely nice to meet a graduate student in the program. The screening went smooth, and she explained all of the test and steps to me. It was extremely nice to know what was being measured and the reasoning behind why it was being tested. My results matched similarly with how I had expected to score. The hearing screening went well. I expected the test of different frequencies of sound. The test that measured how your middle ear was functioning was a very interesting test. I did not realize that they checked that. I was in the normal limits for the hearing screening. It was interesting to see the two types of testing done by a Speech-Language Pathologist. My screener explained to me that SLPs only do hearing screening. If an individual were to fail one of the tests, they are then referred to and Audiologist for further examination. I scored 14/15 on my receptor and my comprehension test. A few of the receptor questions were a little difficult, but I managed to get most of them correct. It was difficult at times, especially if I was not one hundred percent sure on the true meaning of the word. The comprehension test was fairly easy for me. It did take a lot of focus and concentration, but I was able to pick out the selected details necessary for the examine. I scored 3/10 on the synonym test. I was a little shocked at how low I did score. I am aware that synonyms are not a strength of mine, so my low score was not extremely alarming. I use strategies a lot to improve that skill because I am aware it is a weakness of mine. When I write papers, I always use a thesaurus to expand my word
