Scipio Africanus helped Rome into their total domination of the Mediterranean countries by making Carthage finally bow to the might of Rome through his genius military leadership at the Battle of Zama. Scipio Africanus was a great and honorable man born around 235 B.C. He spent his early years in the great military of Rome as he fought in many battles including The Battle of Cannae and Ticinus. During these battles, he showed his leadership and strength from a very early age proving himself to be a natural leader for years to come. Like in Cannae where he daringly convinced his maniples to charge in to save his father and his men from the perils of the gruesome battle. Scipio Africanus had an unusually happy marriage with his wife Aemilia Paulla where he allowed her free will and even she was a role model to the Roman people. He had some of the most powerful children and one of his daughters is the mother of the great emperor Julius Caesar. Scipio Africanus was the greatest leader in the many battles in the punic wars. This gained him respect and he was shown to be an extremely honorable man through his family and even to his enemies. Scipio Africanus’ greatest moment is when he was able to defeat Carthage at the great Battle of Zama, with his military strategies he was able to masterfully outwit Hannibal.
