Productivity is an important life skill that consists of prioritizing obligations in the most efficient way possible. Ekaterina Walter, Wharton University, and asapSCIENCE all explain their thoughts on the most efficient way to be productive. All of the authors reveal that in order to be most productive, one must recognize their own “productivity pockets”, set S.M.A.R.T. goals and create a methodical system for work.

“What about time management? Shockingly, when we look at some of the most elite musicians in the world, we find that they aren't necessarily practicing more, but instead more deliberately. This is because they spend more time focused on the hardest task and focus their energy in packets. Instead of diluting their effort throughout the day, they have intense periods of work followed by breaks.”(The Science of Productivity). In other words, all work and no play is not as productive as it seems, in fact, many studies prove against it. AsapSCIENCE states that the most elite violists do not rely on willpower, but on habit and scheduling. Instead of trying to maintain energy throughout the day, violinists break their practices into a 90 minute work session followed by 15 to 20 minutes of rest. This allows them to work intensely, but not to exhaustion (The Science of Productivity). Ergo, if someone were to schedule their work into periodic sessions such as the aforementioned, they would be most productive. This approach will result in more productivity due to you exhaustion levels. This skill becomes most useful if combined with your “productivity pockets” and your S.M.A.R.T.
