Chapter 20 was something I didn’t expect for it to be but I loved it very much. I thought it was a good way to kind of pay a tribute to those bands and artist who made what the history of Rock and Roll is today. This helped to be like a review as we talked about artist/ bands who we had talked about before but we went more in depth about their story and why they are considered to be a big part of what Rock and Roll is.
We talked about British artist David Bowie, who throughout history has held his position of being one of the most influential artist of the 1950s. Alice Cooper was also mentioned in the chapter, today he is known to be one of heavy metals early innovators for sound and stage appearance. Other artist like; Elton John, Pink Floyd
Today’s job seeker has tough competition. In the textbook reading “Judging by the Cover” by Bonny Gainley, she argues that job seekers ought to be careful when they make personal choices that initially will affect their chances of entering the workplace. People have a need to be accepted by others just the way they are, but many of us were taught as adolescence that we should not judge a book by its cover, yet people judge others solely on their personal appearances. That goes for businesses as well, “[t]he bottom line is that businesses exist to make money. Whether it seems fair or not, generally employers do care about the personal appearances of the people they hire because those people represent the business to its customers” (5). Maybe
Throughout history, and even today, music has shaped America’s culture, society, and even politics. One of the most outstanding and enduring musical movement has been from African American artists, ranging from bebop to jazz to hip-hop to rap. During the 1920’s , jazz artists stepped into the limelight and began their impact on American and even world history. Louis Armstrong was one of the most influential leaders during the Harlem Renaissance and his jazz legacy and impact of American history is everlasting. A master of his craft, Armstrong and his music heavily influenced America’s white and black populations from the 1920’s and up until his death.
Music and Art are two important factors in a society. They are apart of a neighborhood's History. They show how a community has lived, and what was important to the people and how they lived. The Art and Music during certain time periods can show how that community has grown and how it developed. There were many important artist and musician that played a big role in how Detroit, Michigan grew. They also had a big impact on the society of Detroit. Till this day those Artist and Musicians still have an impact on Detroit.
Paul Jackson Pollock was an amazing alcoholic artist. Jackson Pollock was one of the most controversial Americans of the 1930s. He helped shape the way America is today, yet he is not on the “100 Most Influential Americans.” (https://www.theatlantic.com) However I believe he should be on the list, simply because Jackson Pollock changed how people see the world.
Each of the artists mentioned here met Andy Warhol at different phases of his career. While the majority of them were seen at the infamous Factory, some came both before and after. Regardless of where they met and knew Warhol, they each had their own individual lessons and impacts. Jean-Michel Basquait was perhaps the last artist to come around and really know Andy Warhol. Julia Warhol was certainly the first. In between were very many amazing artists, almost too many artists to talk about. The most important, of course, have been mentioned in this paper. Andy Warhol is a man still impacting art long after his death. His visionary style changed forever the face of both commercial art and gallery art. Hopefully this paper communicated a bit of that genius.

In Chapter 25 of the American Yawp, it talks about the Cold War. Relations were soured between the United States and the Soviet Union after World War II. The Truman administration still sought US-Soviet union cooperation. The Cold War was a global political and ideological struggle between capitalist and communist countries, particularly between the two surviving superpowers of the postwar world: the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). “Cold” because it was never a “hot,” direct shooting war between the United States and the Soviet Union, the generations-long, multifaceted rivalry nevertheless bent the world to its whims.
We will look into the life of James Brown. He is known for his music. In his life, he had to face many obstacles, but through determination, he changed his life cycle. We will touch on the influences in his life, developmental stage and theories that best fit his personality.
To create a new type of art during a time of discovery and trends in such a diverse country is a very big deal. But, to further create a lasting impact on society forty years from then is amazing. Andy Warhol has been called the “Prince of Pop” mostly for his profound achievements as a pop artist of the 20th century. His artwork is based off of the American society during the nineteen fifties to the seventies. Warhol sparked a revolution in art by developing Latow’s and Capote’s ideas. He will forever be remembered as an engineer for the basis of pop art.

What do you get when you add together 13 number one singles, 17 Grammy awards, and over one billion albums being sold across the globe since his first solo debut? As soon as the assignment was given and I found out it was going to be over pop culture of, course my mind went straight to the King of Pop himself... Michael Jackson. The true impact Michael had on pop culture may never be surpassed. Jackson has touched the lives of many through his music, his actions and so much more. His legacy will live forever.
In order to understand T.S. Eliot’s poem, Choruses from “The Rock,” one must first understand Eliot’s views on contemporary theology and spirituality. He felt as if people were moving away from the Church and were losing their religion in favor of more secular worship. The following passage from Eliot’s poem can summarize his entire argument that he makes in Choruses from “The Rock”.
When initially venturing to find the perfect person for this report, I first looked at some very interesting people. I found most of these interesting people were, at second glance, not so fascinating. I don't doubt that every one of them had a drastic impact on the world around them, but I found that none of these people suited the taste I was looking for. I needed a person who was not only interesting and beneficial to this world but also had a certain characteristic…I wanted this person to be "cool." I needed this distinction because I thought in order to do this report I needed to relate to this person in some way, and as a member of the younger generation, with unique views, I thought this quality would make it easier to relate to such a person. My search became frustrating because I could not find any particular person who fit my rubric as ultimately fascinating. I wondered, “What exactly makes a person cool?" In my deliberating I analyzed that word, cool, and thought, "Who better to do a report on than the one who revolutionized that word. Who, you ask may that be?
