This walmart ad does not say much however what is it telling us. This essay is called a rhetorical essay. That means we will look at this ad and figure out what the writer was thinking when he made it. This will explain how the parts of this add work together to persuade people into shopping at walmart. The words, pictures, and colors have a purpose. The first thing we see when we look at this ad is a mom and her baby with a full cart. Some may say the writer is saying even single mothers can fill their cart here. They may be saying shopping here makes people happy because the mother in the picture looks happy. Looking at what we see in the cart, or rather what we do not see, and that is plastic. This could be the writer saying that walmart is “going green”. Walmart used to have a star in it’s name which showed some patriotic symbolism with it. This being said, there are many people who think that walmart has lost touch with their roots. However they have substituted the star in the middle of the name with six yellow lines in a sun like formation at the end of their name. The sun can symbolize many things such as happiness, newness, and cheerfulness. Walmart has had many slogans over the years. One of the ones I remember as a kid is “Always low price. Always”. The one they are using here is is “Save Money Live Better”. This is kind of a catch all slogan. Saying that Walmart has low prices and products that make you live better. As you can see both slogans hold the same concept. A big save money here sign could work just as well. You may be asking yourself what is the credibility and reputation. Walmart most of the time has the lowest prices, however they have earned the reputation of “the walmart brand”. That means low cost and low
