Think about our recent election: one man and one women. But were they represented in the same way? If you think about it, Hillary was represented in a much different way than what Trump was, and it was obvious that the media favored Donald. Although some people may not want to agree, this is not the only case where this happens; there are countless times where the way women are portrayed by the media is drastically different than the way that men are. By now, it should be evident that women and men are represented at different rates in media, whether it be politicians, certain types of leaders, or simply women who hold power. In class, we discussed how women are represented based on their looks and their beauty and how their image is the stereotypical “perfect white woman.” This would be a woman who is tall, skinny, wears make-up, and is all- around beautiful. The goal of feminizing these women is to supply viewers with “eye candy”.
