René Gruau whose real name was Renato Zavagli, was an Italian artist who moved to Paris with his family as infant. His illustrations were published at the age of fourteen, he was first know for his work in the mid 1920. Inspired by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s Art Nouveau aesthetic, he depicted expressive lines and controlled blocks of color used by his predecessor. Gruau started to become popular or his painterly style of fashion illustration. Rene Gruau began his career in print editorials. His work was appreciated by everyone his illustrations portrayed the glamour and style of the fashion world. He mostly used ink, pencil, pen, and paint as his medium. His lines where fluid and had very strong aggressive colors which made his work outstanding.
Zuzana Gruenberger was born in Kosice, Czechoslovakia on March 3, 1933. She was the youngest of three children and her most used nickname was Zuzi. Zuzana’s father's occupation was a tailor, and he worked where they lived. When the first Hungarian troops marched into Kosice, Zuzana was five years old. Soon after their arrival the Hungarian troops began to enforce anti-Jewish laws; these laws were said to be welcomed by the Hungarian government.

Aloysius “Louis” Baumann was a businessman who truly cared for the well being of his customers as well as his family. He was born on August 22nd, 1863 in Hirschau, Bavaria in southeast Germany. Louis accompanied his parents, Joseph and Anna, on the long journey to settle on a farm near the town of Branch in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. Throughout the duration of his early years, Louis attended public school, dabbled in carpentry and assisted his family on the farm. In 1885 he moved to a farm north of Hewitt, Wisconsin. During the next four years, in May 1886, Louis married Anna Meidl, a girl born in Newmark, Bohemia, and had their first child, Theresa, in 1887. In 1889 Louis Baumann purchased a property on North Central Avenue in Marshfield, Wisconsin to build a saloon and hall. Sanger, or Singer, Hall became a community gathering place and was later renamed to Baumann’s Hall as the business prospered.
Juan Gris was born in 1887. He was a Spanish born French painter who went to the cubist school. Originally his name was Jose Vittoriano Gonzalez, he was born in Madrid and educated there. He left Madrid in 1906 and went to Paris, making the acquaintance of Spanish artist Pablo Picasso and of the French painter Georges Braque. Gris's first cubist paintings, generally more calculated than those of Picasso and Braque, appeared in 1912. He spent the next summer in Céret, France, with Picasso, and while there adopted the use of papier collé, shapes cut from paper and glued to the canvas.
Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus was born in approximately 163 B.C.E to Tiberius Gracchus the Elder and Cornelia Africana. Gaius Gracchus, his younger brother, was born in 154 B.C.E. In the 2nd century B.C., the two brothers formed “The Gracchi”. The two, born plebeians, belonged to one of the most influential families in Rome, the Sempronia. Their father was the tribune of the plebs, the praetor, consul and censor. Fatherless from a young age, they were taught democratic views by tutors. As they grew older and gained influence, their goal became to restructure Rome in a way that benefited the underprivileged and unfortunate. At the time, their help was especially welcome as members of the Populare, a political group whose purpose was to serve the people, rather than the aristocracy (like the Optimates). The ideals of the Gracchi leaned towards what people today would call populism or socialism; in fact, they are almost reverently called “the founding fathers” (Fife 1) of the aforementioned political parties. The brothers were perhaps so interested in restoring the rights of the people because of the dichotomy of their plebeian births within a noble line.
Georges Seurat was a French painter and an important figure in exceling the neo-impressionism movement. Seurat spent the majority of his life studying color theories and the effects of different linear structures (Pioch). By studying color theories and the effects of (Vora) different linear structures, Seurat was able create his own technique that would later make him famous and unforgettable.
Pablo Picasso is the worlds most renowned artist of the 20th century. He did a variety of skills related to the world of art. Most people remember him as just a painter, but he was more than that. He could do sculpting, drawing, engraving, lithographs, and more. One of his most famous periods of all time, The Blue Period showed all that he was capable of. Georges Seurat was a French born artist born on December 2nd 1859 in Paris, Frrance. He study at École des Beaux-Art, which was one of the most prestige art schools in the world, which is also known for training many of the renounced artist we know. George Seurat left the École des Beaux-Art and began to work on his own; he began to visit impressionist exhibitions, where he gained inspiration from the impressionist painters, such as Claude Monet. Seurat also was interested in the science of art; he explored perception, color theory and the psychological effect of line and form. Leonardo Da Vinci was a famous artist, mathematician, engineer, and philosopher. Many people describe him as the perfect archetype for the man during the renaissance. Born in Vinci, Italy in 1452, Da Vinci has influenced many present day artists and is one of the most well known artists of the renaissance. During his lifetime, Da Vinci created many famous journals with anatomical drawings, inventions, and writing. One of the drawings found in his one of his many journals is the Vitruvian Man. Over time, his drawing has become one of the most well-known icons for the renaissance. Named after the first century B.C.E Roman architect Vitruvius, this drawing depicted a man with what Vitruvius described in one of his books as the ideal proportions for a man. Based off of notes from Vitruvius’s book, the drawing showed a man standing up straight with his arms spread out, on top of that pose, Da Vinci drew the man in a pose with his arms reaching slightly above his head, and his legs spread (this is usually called spread eagle). Georges Braque was a French painter born on May 13, 1882, in Argenteuil-sur-Seine, near Paris. He grew up there and in the city of Le Havre where he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He began developing his painting skills while working for his father as a house decorator. By 1900 he moved to Paris to purse the study of painting as fine art. In his early works Braques’ style was early impressionism. It wasn’t until a few years later when he was influenced in the works of well known artists such as Matisse, Derain, Cezanne, and exspecially Picasso. Braque meeting Picasso was only the beginning of a huge turning point in his artistic development. Both Picasso and Braque began to work closely together. The two of them began to develop a similar approach in painting and invented analytic cubism. Cubism is a style known for geometric shapes that are seen thorough multiple viewpoints. Both artists produced paintings of neutralized colors and complex patterns. They worked so closely together that many pieces of their work look almost identical. In many instances only experts can distinguish Braque’s paintings from Picasso’s. Later, they both began to experiment with collage. Collage is a technique of constructing images from everyday life materials such as newspapers, labels, and pieces of fabric.
