I register for this course without knowing what challenges or outcomes would transpire throughout the semester. Nevertheless, I understood that in order to be successful in the class it would take a great deal of determination and motivation. Of course, several of my college courses have involved some type of writing whether it is short summaries, journal keeping, research, or long topic papers. The writing assignments in the past have been fairly easy, however, this class introduces a new spectrum of writing subjects. For instance, we don’t often write letters to faculty members, doctors, or write from a different persons perspective. Even If I ponder on a topic for a while, it takes me quite some time to be satisfied with the introduction of any paper. Summarizing, brainstorming, and listing ideas on a particular topic have been helpful, but I continue to struggle. My outlook and process of writing anything has changed with this class. In particular, I needed to change my approach and understanding on the subject before being able to start writing the assignment. Allow yourself to gather and digest all of your thoughts and ideas in order to see a difference in your writing skills. Referencing and rereading the topic while writing has helped the flow and cohesiveness of my papers. During this process, you do encounter difficult challenges that in several ways have a positive impact on your method of writing. As a writer, I’ve learned that I must break off from the repetitive negative habits that have hindered my writing skills in the past. That’s to say, you do not benefit if you wait until the last minute to start on a topic. In addition, my process of thought has changed from narrow-minded to open-minded because I’ve allowed myself to the challenge critical thinking brings. In the same way, make it a habit to be in a calm, relaxed, and positive state of mind because this allows for an enjoyable writing experience.
