Strategies for Beginning College Students College can be challenging, so I believe you have to set some goals, better study habits and learn how to manage your time. You have to set goals that are workable, positive, realistic, measurable, and controllable (Reynolds, 25). You have to maintain a positive attitude toward your assignment and schooling. In doing so, you will boost your drive for doing what you need to be done, as well as, becoming realistic with trying to achieve your set goals. Therefore, it will sometimes make you feel that there isn’t enough time in the day to accomplish the things you have to get done. Time management will assist you with controlling your outcome, as well as, observing your study time and stay on top of your class assignments. As a college student you have to set times to study so I can get assignments done. You have to allot more time to prepare ahead for tests. Always ask your professor what the test may consist of or what the test will be like. You should write down the information that the professor tells you about your test. This can help you to prepare a study plan, setup your own practice test, review your notes and other study material, and seek help for your test beforehand. As a student beginning college, I now had to adjust my work schedule to fix my class workload and class schedule. I had to utilize my time wisely, to get everything accomplish within in a set schedule. Critical thinking helps you to think with authority, excellence and quality, and will also help you to avoid making mistakes in the words you speak, along with, your reasoning.
