Real Talk for Real Teachers written by Rafe Esquith, has not only been hours of encouragement but also has given me situations to ponder was I become a teachers. I have never heard anyone say, I want to become a teacher because the pay is better than any other career. People don’t become teachers because of the fame. People become teacher because they care about people. These thoughts are reinforced by Rafe’s book, he tells me that there are going to be bad days that I will doubt myself as a teacher and that’s ok because we all have days like that. We need to stay focused on what matters the most, the kids.

While one group is working on an art project that can be completed with little help from the teacher. The second group can be working on a writing lesson that would involve the individual attention of the teacher. These is beneficial to the teacher as well as to the students. The students benefit from the amount of teacher help that they are receiving and it is beneficial to the teacher because it give the teacher the chance to proofread or edit the writing assignments. Doing more things at school during the day means not having to proofread and edit at night when you should be spending time with family and friends. Time management is a key to becoming a master teacher, Rafe writes “ With things running smoothly and children learning real skills that will help make their lives extraordinary, why would a teacher want to leave?” (252) this really makes sense to me.
