When it comes to immigrants, it is clear to distinguish that they can be portrayed in a wrongful way. Immigrants can be detected to be criminals, rapist, having low income, and etc. Immigrants are also viewed as individuals that are taking jobs away from U.S. Citizens, which is not the case. I believe that immigrants work just as hard or even harder to acquire these jobs so that they can support their families. Therefore, countless immigrants risk their life coming to America so that they can have that better life for their families. “Illegal aliens come to the United States to take jobs that offer them greater opportunity, and they are often welcomed by U.S. employers who are able to hire them for wages lower than they would have to pay to …show more content…
It is unfair that illegal immigrants can get targeted in this way and taken advantage of. Everyone is trying to receive a living and instead of paying the individual for their arduous work, they could end up getting discriminated. Although illegal immigrants have the right to claim their money, they are usually afraid to reach out to authorities. “Undocumented workers receive the same protection as U.S. citizens when it comes to claiming unpaid wages, many are hesitant to go to the authorities.” (Oppmann, 2009). These individuals are afraid to go to authorities for obvious reasons, in fear of being deported. At the end of the day this leaves us with undocumented immigrants being at risk of not attaining payment, or not being able to report crimes, seeing that they are afraid of what may happen. There have been issues involving abuse, and getting nearly beaten to death, without being able to call the authorities for help. One example is a man named Miguel who called the police to receive assistants with a troubled family member, Miguel then ended up in deportation
Since the beginning, America has always been a nation of immigrants, but many times the very same America seems to forget. As of today there are millions of immigrants who are looked down upon by American-born citizens who were freed by their immigrants ancestors generations ago. Today in the year of 2016 immigration is a burning topic in American politics and in regular discussions around the country. Many allege that Immigration has and continues to ruin America others disagree. Most of the time the people who are against immigration are the ones who only know the single stories about immigrants or simply aren 't educated enough on the topic. Unfortunately out of these single stories believed about immigrants and immigration as a whole stereotypes
The author, Jo-Ann Pilardi accurately writes about immigration in her article “Immigration Problem Is about Us, Not Them.” All Immigrants, whether they are legal or illegal know that having the chance to live in America, is a dream come true or in other words, “a chance in paradise.” America is known for its opportunities. Immigrants came to the United States for a very significant purpose. Their purpose and goal is to take advantage of the opportunities in the land known as, “the land of opportunity.” Immigrants did not come here to damage the country or to over burden its inhabitants. That author states, “Many of our political leaders talk hard line about immigration reform even though they know our country is mired in its demand for the
Asian immigrants also faced discrimination when they first started coming to the United States attempting to seek a better future. Even though the building of the West would not have been possible without Asian immigrants such as the Chinese, they were still looked down upon by American citizens. They were not only accused of taking mining jobs away from citizens but they were also blamed for bringing down the wages companies offered employees (Egendorf pg.19). Since mining companies were notorious for paying Asian immigrants next to nothing for their hard work, American citizens looking for employment in the mines found it difficult to compete for jobs.
An illegal immigrant, who works for their keep in an unknown country, contributes to taxes, stays out of trouble, and just wants a better life in a foreign country, on unknown land should be recognized for their contribution to that particular society. An illegal immigrant is a person who migrates to a different country in a way that is in violation of the immigrant laws of that country. Immigration has been a divided topic for many years in America- illegal immigrants are sometimes seen as a burden to America, but others view them as an economic savior. There are over 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States and many Americans have mixed views about where there stance should be regarding citizenship. Illegal immigrants should be granted citizenship based on the United States need for e legalized workforce, the increase in tax revenues that would decrease the nation’s debt, and the boosting of America’s economy.
The United States of America, being a country founded by immigrants, is known all over the world as the land of great opportunities. People from all walks of life travelled across the globe, taking a chance to find a better life for them and their family. Over the years, the population of immigrants has grown immensely, resulting in the currently controversial issue of illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants are the people who have overstayed the time granted on their US, visa or those who have broken the federal law by crossing the border illegally. Matt O’Brien stated in his article “The government thinks that 10.8 million illegal immigrants lived in the country in January 2009, down from a peak of nearly 12 million in 2007.”(Para, 2) While some argue that illegal immigrants burden the United States of America and its economy, others believe that they have become essential and are an important part of the US, economy.
A common quote is “nobody can judge a book by its cover”. America has experienced terrorist attacks from many different types of immigrants. Thus, people can only assume all people from outside of the United States are labeled terrorist based on the actions made by others. Most people are not aware that terrorists are already in America and has grown up here. People think immigrants will have diseases that will spread to them. The solution would be before the immigrants come over to get tested for diseases to keep from spreading to others. Another thought passed through America’s mind is that immigrants are stealing jobs from American people. Citizens have doubts about having a stable job to attend each day or getting paid. When immigrants come to the United States, individuals worry that immigrants will take their jobs because they are willing to do any work for less money and without complaining. The immigrants coming over only have limited amount of money and do not have an education. These immigrants are only getting jobs that many people will not want to do because it could be back breaking work or little pay. Immigrants are not stealing jobs; they need money just like everyone else to survive and to support a
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, was an executive order by Barack Obama which allowed “certain undocumented immigrants who were children when they were brought to the U.S. to apply for deferred action, and to be eligible for work permits” (Hughes). Opponents of the order question the legality of its creation and claim the program is subject to fraud. Supporters of DACA say it protects people who should not be punished for the actions of their parents and that it puts a band aid on a blatant hole in current immigration laws. The business community almost universally supports DACA, and claims repealing it will hurt the economy. Arguments
I am a naturalized US citizen and one of many Americans who supports President Donald Trump's idea of the construction of a US/Mexico border wall. It is needed for a few reasons, I believe it will reduce unauthorized access to America, block drug smugglers, and prevent terrorists from entering through the back door. A border wall is seen as a tool that, with accompanying technology, will allow the United States Border Patrol to improve enforcement. A 2010 Rasmussen phone survey indicated that approximately 59 percent of United States citizens supported a border wall to control immigration. Studies have shown that only a small amount of voters were not in favor of the construction of the wall but after American Consulate employees were murdered
Many americans claim that illegal immigrants come into the u.s and take their jobs. In 2012 8.5 million jobs were taken by immigrants. (Passel, Jeffrey S. and D'Vera Cohn, Federation for American Immigration reform,p.2)Yes, many immigrants have jobs in the U.S but most of these jobs are all minimum wage. Facts actually show the types of jobs immigrants are taking. Most illegal immigrants work in hard, awful environment factories. They work extra hours just to have enough money to get by. People are mad at the fact that they have jobs here but truth is they wouldn't take those jobs anyways. If all immigrants workers leave, who would do these j...
Growing up Mexican is not easy. Especially if that person is the type to question things because questioning things means they’re talking back. I was considered the bad child and black sheep in my family because I would always questions things and if I see something wrong then I’m going to say it. For example, when I was younger I would always ask my parents, “Why do you have faith on this mystical being that supposedly is going grant your prayer.” Although I was just asking a question, to them I was questioning god which means I was taking back and being disrespectful. Another example, is when I was younger I will hear my aunts gossiping about my parents and brothers. I saw my aunt’s gossiping as something that I needed to tell them to stop.
There is a common consensus among people around the world that the United States of America is the greatest country in the world because it is the land of opportunity, and the land of immigrants. In fact, the United States of America has always been the epicenter for the world 's greatest minds, and where hard work is recognized and rewarded. A place where boys become the future leaders of the world. A place where everyone, regardless of the color of their skin and their religion collaborate to solve the world’s future/current problems. Recently though, many Americans claim that undocumented immigrants steal their jobs, don’t pay any taxes, and still reap the benefits such as free public schooling. However, the author of “My Life as an Undocumented
For example Immigrants housekeeping, Sewing machine operator and Tailors. Many normal people do not take these type of jobs but Immigrants have to take them to get work. That is only 1 of the many risk Immigrants have to take in order to survive like us to live in this world. All they want to do is just get an normal life because they hear America is the land of the free but certain people teach them badly. Many Immigrant pay taxes like us even though they are classified as second class citizens. They should be able to pay less taxes than us. They pay more than Donald Trump in taxes. Undocumented immigrants pay 12 billion taxes each year. Many of them can not even get an green car because how much money it takes.Immigrants serve in many different ways. For example many of them have jobs and many try to speak but can`t. Many immigrants are very smart and can get very good jobs to help America. Some citizens of America can´t even get jobs. Most immigrants actually have jobs just to pay taxes or loans they take from banks or
Immigration a highly debated issue here in the U.S. Many people say immigrants abuse the system especially illegal immigrants. The problem is that a lot of people do not realize that immigrants with green cards do work and pay for everything including taxes. People are just unaware of how much immigrants contribute to the U.S, and how hard making the decision to come here can be. Coming to the U.S is not cheap for some. For Amir and Baba, from The Kite Runner, it is physically difficult and finically difficult. Many come here with little to nothing and leave behind a lot,yet still people come. Most come here for two things: freedom and safety. The freedom to do what they want and including economically, and the safety to live in peace from wars or persecution. Most immigrants come to America for the American dream of freedom, and safety which comes at a price.
...he squatter camps of the city which they are living. Moreover slums are also the source of all kinds of social evils such as drugs and prostitution because of the lowest security.
U.S.《 Forbes》 on January 17 published an article ,and its original question : the end of cheap labor in China , jobs are gone ? Globalization makes Apple , GM and other large companies have chosen to set up factories in countries with lower labor costs the most . In the past , China has always been their first choice . But now , the Central Kingdom is losing dominance , because labor costs can not be as cheap as before . Since 2010 , China's manufacturing costs rose an average of about 16% annually , more than any country in the world . Rapidly aging population , higher worker productivity is the main reason for rising .
